Peaceful or Not, Bush Gang Will Spin Convention Protests Their Way
Let's say nary a bad or violent scene erupts out of the convention's anti-Bush demonstrations. Bush will then have an ad that states how the Republican Convention tolerated protests and all that jazz and only in Bush's America can such a happy, peaceful outcome be assured.

Or, let's say some well-placed violence does occur and gets the usual kind of coverage (gleeful and overstated) from the media. Bush and his spinners now have an ad that tells the public what a bunch of reckless and intolerant people the anti-Bush folks really are.

I say- to demonstrators or whomever- to go your own way and do what you think is proper. Don't let anybody's way be your way unless it's the best way.

1. Bush's tactic will be to embrace the protestor's
because it's an expression of American freedom, and ain't it a great country!
Meanwhile, when cameras aren't looking at smaller protests, protestors are herded out of his site and protest numbers are lied about... HE'S A DICTATOR FOLKS!!!!

2. I hope there isn't violence.
As well-deserved as aggressive and possibly violent protest might be, you know the media (all television, plus RW print and radio) is salivating about the prospects of having some fresh footage of wanton destruction and/or fighting in the streets.

You could feel the disappointment on the lips of everybody that showed up on CNN or MSNBC when they had to admit that the most rancorous police arrests thus far had been for the sidewalk-chalking bike scandal. Remember, talking heads for the White House have been speaking for two weeks about the threats of anarchists and Democrats. One person throwing a brick through a window will lead directly to three weeks of exclusive media coverage, plus Ralph Reed on every single political TV show saying "See? We told you Democrats are dangerous."

We are, unfortunately (and I think Dem-Strategist was correct about this), at odds with the media. Because whatever we know as "right", though violence is debatable at best, is instantly transformed into an anti-Kerry message.

As an aside, if I hear about this damned Gallup poll on CNN one more time, I think my head will explode. I think it's on a fifteen-minute loop.
