The Alaska flag that I've seen is solid blue with yellow stars. That looks to me like an Israeli flag?

The blue star of the service lapel pin signify that one or more members are serving in the Armed Forces during any period of war or hostilities in which the Armed Forces of the United States may be engaged, for the duration of such period of war or hostilities.

8. Her son is not serving in a combat zone, as of yet
Maybe we should wear purple band aids as the Republicans did at their convention 4 years ago to mock Kerry's service.
