What do desks have to do with "freedom?"

Those kid's hard working, tax-paying mommies and daddies paid for those damn desks....And they should have stormed that school and demanded that teacher be fired.

8. It's a variant of an old adage.
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 08:47 PM by sailor65
Over the years I've heard it in many forms, but the basic premise is gratitude to the Veterans who bought for you much of what you have. Which is a very valid parable.

But this sounds like a spin on "My sister's best friend's cousin....." Although I could be wrong.

And the truth of the story certainly has nothing to do with the GOP. But you aren't surprised by that, right? :-)

11. I thought it was a good story.
You don't have to earn your desks, because these old soldiers already earned them for you.
Just like you don't have to earn your freedom.

16. Earned them how? Earn my freedom how?
You see, I don't get that. George Washington and the founding fathers earned my freedom for me and the rest of America.

14. Without the military you would have nothing. You would BE nothing.
The military is the will of the state, the state the will of the military and the people the backbone of the will, or maybe the other way around...

Standard RW stuff the world around. Hardcore nazi BS in a country that no one has pondered actually invading (to take deasks for instance) since about 1840.

Outside, on the other hand, the police are rounding up and arresting reporters and protesters.

Bit of a disconnect there.
