About Palin being "pro life".
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 07:17 PM by the dogfish
I say bullshit.

She's only "pro life" in the sense that the conservatives use that term (among many others) as a hollow marketing ploy.

Pro life?? Who in their right mind, who is in favor of life for life's sake, shoots animals from an aircraft and opposes safe-sex and teen pregnancy programs??

You can't be sincerely in favor of life if you're working against programs that are aimed at bringing life into this world only to people who are prepared financially, emotionally and chronologically to provide for that life.

She's a flake. She's a fucking idiot.

3. What "Pro-Life" Human Being would Condone War as Agreesively as the Right Wing?
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 07:19 PM by fascisthunter
Or condone the lack of funding for the poorest of the poor so they end up dying?

4. What's her position on the death penalty?
What's her position on the civilians and troops killed in our ongoing wars?

For that matter, what's her position on torture, which sometimes leads to death?

What's her position on supporting programs for teenage mothers to help support the children they choose not to abort?

What's her position on gun control measures to reduce violent crime?

If you're pro-life, be pro-life, and not just have a fetus-fetish.

8. There is no such thing as a Pro-Life movement, because there is NO group espousing a
"Consistent Life Ethic" and that includes the group that was suppposed to have been one of the earliest originators of Pro-Life ethos, the Catholic Church.

A real Pro-Life movement would recognize the absolute necessity of Universal Health Care and a Complete and Appropriate Education FOR EVERYONE, in order that human life could develop to the fullest of its "God-given" gifts (which we have a moral responsibility to fulfill, because it is those god-given apptitudes and potentials that make a life what "god wants" it to be).

I was raised in the Conservative Catholic tradition, believe me, anyone who is against Universal Health Care and/or Publicly financed Education, anyone who kills un-necessarily, anyone who does not Respect Earth does not fit the Pro-Life characteristics we were taught.

There also isn't a real Pro-Choice movement, because being able to get an abortion doesn't necessarily mean a woman has/had a choice.

What we have right now is a bunch of people (on both sides, "Life" vs. "Choice") who make a living milking the two groups for money/votes.

9. Pro-Life....Pro-War....??? can't have it both ways...
Then you add thoughts like the following from Ms.Palin...and it equals one scary individual...I am just sure our men/women in Iraq/Afghanistan are convinced they went there to do God's work...Is that what they are being told???

"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending (troops) out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."

#1..they are simply striving to stay alive to come home..
#2..they are doing a task from God?? so now this is a religious war??
#3..we have to pray that there's a plan?? oh wait, wasn't it * who said, that God told him to invade Iraq?...so then God must have explained "the plan" to *...right??

If we aren't afraid of this individual...we damned sure should be...wb
