Prediction: The ratings for tonight won't match media hype
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 06:02 PM by GrizzlyMan
Nobody I know is talking about it. Local quasi-right wing morning radio station hosts were talking about how they turned on the TV last night and were surprised, thinking the convention had been cancelled. Wed. night is a church night in Bible Land.

1. Disagree, tonight will get even better ratings than tomorrow night with McCain
EVERYBODY is fascinated in this freakshow. I'm tuning in just to see if Palin does something stupid like trip off the stage at this point.

7. I'd like to see Palin draw more viewers than McCain.
After all that criticism of Obama as an "inexperienced celebrity", McCain chooses an inexperienced VP who becomes an instant celebrity (cover stories in People and US Weekly to come this week). Crazy!

2. And I was just thinking the opposite...
that EVERYTHING in the news is about Palin in order to get big ratings. I hope you're right on this one.

14. She'll attract the same people...
...that watched Anna Nicole Smith's funeral. People who slow down and crane their necks as they drive by an accident.

3. It's getting all kinds of free advertising on the News channels
It will get at lest 25 Million viewers. Don't worry, if it's a great speech the aura will wear off in a couple of days then all the scandals will be front and center again.

6. Oooo you're right, it is church night.
They could DVR it, but still. People around here don't usually miss Wednesday night church.

8. They probably don't have DVR access.
These are people who can barely manage to forward all those lying e-mails to each other.

Said it would be 100,000,000, the rest of them thought that it was just a bit too high. Whatever

10. Tonight will get big ratings. I'm going to watch. Aren't you?
Tonight will be big. Make no mistake about it.

I think it will outdraw McCain, as well.

13. Do ratings capture people watching with the sound off? Palin's voice will do that.
