Sarah Palin eloped with her high-school boyfriend, Todd Palin, on August 29, 1988, when she was 24 years old.<6><122> Todd works for BP as an oil-field production operator<123> and owns a commercial fishing business.<24> The family lives in Wasilla.

The couple have five children: sons Track (born April 20, 1989)

21. Guess they forgot about the "abstinence only" type of life before marriage...
She preaches it loud and clear now.
Guess it did not work for her any better than it worked for her daughter.
It is the hypocrisy that is the point.

Nevertheless...if not pregnant at marriage, then the Palins' have a history of delivering premature babies!

Bottom line...thanks for pointing out the obvious math involved with Miss Sarah's marriage and the TRUE reason why she "romantically eloped"!!!!???!!!. I am so sick of the hypocrisy in our country--if you're a Republican you can shoot someone in the face and make it their fault...if you're a Democrat you have to apologize to the country because somehow your party let a Republican shoot someone in the face. Go figure!

Who the heck cares WHY someone gets married, unless you're

1. Against sex education in schools
2. Against contraceptives
3. Against Choice
4. FOR ABSTINENCE ONLY!

Preaching abstinence and not practicing it make you a hypocrite! No forgiveness from me! Sarah preaches "Abstinence ONLY" education. SHE DID NOT PRACTICE THIS HERSELF! Where is her empathy for others who find themselves in a situation similar to hers?

13. I'm not sure that abstinence only means what you think it does
As I understand it, it means that abstinence is the only option of controlling whether or not one produces offspring. It doesn't mean that one HAS to be abstinent, only that they have no other birth-control choice other than abstinence.

16. Abstinence only....
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 04:23 PM by BrklynLiberal
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abstinence-only_sex_education

Abstinence-only sex education is a form of sex education that emphasizes abstinence from sex to the exclusion of all other types of sexual and reproductive health education, particularly regarding birth control and safe sex. This type of sex education promotes sexual abstinence until marriage and either completely avoids any discussion about the use of contraceptives, or only reveals failure rates associated with such use.

Proponents of abstinence-only sex education argue that this approach is superior to comprehensive sex education (see Sex education) for several reasons. They say that sex education should emphasize teaching a morality that limits sex to that within the bounds of marriage and that sex outside marriage and at a young age has heavy physical and emotional costs.<1> They claim that comprehensive sex education encourages teen premarital sexual activity, which should be discouraged in an era when HIV and other incurable sexually transmitted infections are widespread and when teen pregnancy is an ongoing concern.

No mention of birth control. Perhaps you are thinking of the rhythm method.

26. Really? I stand corrected if true.
So are you saying abstinence and the rhythm method are the same????? (I truly never heard this before!!!) However, the bottom line: abstinence generally doesn't work and unplanned pregnancies are the result. I guess we can use both Sarah and her daughter Bristol as examples, if needed.

29. Abstinence is meant to apply before marriage. Rhythm method is within marriage.
"Abstinence" is supposed to mean no sex before marriage.
The rhythm method is form of birth control....whether you use within marriage or not is your decision, but I believe the church meant for it to be used within marriage. They do not allow any other form of birth control.

30. Thanks! I was just trying to point out how ludicrous some of these Ms. Palin defenses are.
Bottom line: Either you believe in abstinence (before marriage) or you don't. Clearly Sarah and her husband Todd didn't believe in this. And, now we've learned Bristol and her boyfriend Levi didn't believe in abstinence either!

YET--THEY WANT TO PREACH THIS TO THE YOUTH IN AMERICA!

Bottom line, the family is composed of HUGE HYPOCRITES. Why is this so hard to understand?

Palin's Media
FEBRUARY 26, 2008 - 12:05 PM
From Sean Cockerham in Anchorage --
http://community.adn.com/blog/24417?page=33
Sarah Palin is getting all kinds of media during her D.C. trip.

Check out this gushing piece in the American Spectator that declares "Sarah Palin, the beautiful conservative Republican governor of Alaska, would be an ideal choice to help McCain slay this unholy ObamaOprah beast."

"Gov. Palin could become the Republican Party's Segolene Royal, the French Socialist Party's glamorous leader known for her heels and political bite. She is the perfect antidote to Sen. Obama's cheap thrills, and would help rejuvenate conservatism."

It's NOT the fact that she was pregnant when she eloped that bothers anyone here. Hell, I know a lot of republicans who wouldn't give half a rat shit about that, either.

It's NOT that her 16 or 17 year old daughter is pregnant, either. I don't give a shit about that. I doubt most people really do.

It's the hypocrisy. It's ALWAYS the hypocrisy with these people. Whether they're screaming about not letting gays get married then engaging in toe tapping signals with gay guys in a bathroom, championing sexual predator legislation then getting caught with kiddies themselves, or making a huge deal out of abstinence ONLY, purity pledges and other creepy ass shit and then being pregnant on their honeymoon and having pregnant teens, it's ALWAYS the HYPOCRISY.

You can bet if a Republican is saying one thing, they are probably doing the opposite. It's a safe bet. In fact, there's been such a pattern with them, I think there should be an automatic investigation triggered anytime a Republican proposes, champions or furthers any child predator legislation.

They can talk the talk all day long, but they rarely ever walk the walk. I don't have one ounce of respect for that.

If we don't get them off this ship, we're going to be hip deep in them.
Explain that.
The nearest thing I can figure out is they're born pregnant, which seems to be quite a timesaver.
I know, but really ...
and from my observations, it seems they're bisexual, reproducing at will. And, brother, have they got a lot of will.
Captain, I'm forced to agree with the doctor. I've been running computations on their rate of reproduction. The figures are taking an alarming direction. They're consuming our supplies and returning nothing.
But they do give us something, Mr. Spock.
They give us love.
