Is anyone here watching the Repub Convention...
...???

I am, because I feel the need to know what they are saying and doing. I prefer C-Span, but I look at the others (even fox) to get the spin.

This whole thing so so ANTI- everything I believe. I am amazed that they are again using people...the religious, the military...for their own purposes. Amazed and angry. I keep hoping that no one is buying this time.

It is all so blatant and obvious to me...but I see family members feeling torn about what to believe. I'm so cynical that I even think the hurricane Gustav excuse for a lame convention (the dog ate my homework) was totally political, and not done out of concern at all.

They saw the Democratic Convention and KNEW they could not compete. And it backfired on them, IMHO.

Thoughts???

1. No, I don't want to give them the ratings.. And I can't stand the lies.
Besides.. watching the GOP is like watching the clan de-Robed.. all white people who are afraid of color.

2. No - Saw about 5 minutes and that was enough for me
I don't need to hear what I already know they will say.

4. Haven't watched it at all this week and don't
plan to. Not even turning the t.v. on. Can't see wasting my time listening to lies from the convention podium or the t.v. pundits.

5. No, because the media is collectively creaming their pants over Palin.
With a few exceptions. It's disgusting to watch.

6. is anyone still watching? This is insane!
They keep claiming that the media is being sexist, and in the next breathe, they say "She should be elected because she is a working mom...anyone who handles a home budget knows how difficult it is! She rallied against the PTA for goodness sake!"

9. Not watching Repubs. But it's interesting that C-SPAN cut to Obama's stump speech today
in Ohio.

I don't recall them interrupting the Dem convention coverage for any McCain stumping, but then again, he may not have been doing any - who knows?

14. I watched that...
...speech from Ohio. He talked a lot about his health care plan...did a good job of explaining details. And someone asked him how we keep this election from being stolen. ;)

18. I hope you are right, but...
...in 2004 I convinced myself that people were too smart to vote for Bush a second time. I was wrong. And then there's that Ohio stuff...

they are not genuine and they do not have our best interests at heart, they never did. I find them insulting and arrogant.

20. Someone yesterday said...
...I think on Larry King...that he didn't find their convention inclusive. He said he did not feel welcome in that group.

I thought that was a great comment.

16. You are a far stronger woman than I
I can never watch that, but I guess it's good that someone does so you can report back.

On the other hand... it does help their ratings. Maybe if you watch it online it doesn't count?

22. I do worry about the ratings...
...so I'll probably watch the Palin speech and the McCain speech on C-Span, but the delayed presentation. I absolutely do NOT want to help their ratings. :)

23. Know Thine Enemy!!! You go!!!
I feel the same way, YvonneCa. More of us SHOULD be watching them, closely, and completely... but alas, see the responses...

I have the TV here at work on in the kitchen and I keep making excuses to go in there. I try to watch in the evening when I get home, but my b/f is of the same mind as so many here and he won't watch.

I want to watch Palin! Jeez! So frustrating!

Please, please keep us posted, YvonneCa!

26. I'm watching it too,
though not as intently as the Democratic convention. I guess I need to know what is going on. After last week, it is like a completely different planet.

30. I enjoyed watching Chris Matthews
hammer a couple of GOP congressmen, basically accusing them of not really knowing who Palin was before last week. He kept threatening to look them up in Lexus Nexus to see if they'd ever said anything about her before she became the nominee.

They didn't look too happy and kept going back to their "talking points".

I refuse to listen to their lies and insults. They've got nothing positive to say - it's fear, and more propaganda.
