The McCain campaign will have no further comment about our long and thorough process,” Schmidt said.
SDUT is reporting that the McCain campaign is calling for an end to the public vetting process too.

“This nonsense is over,” declared senior campaign adviser Steve Schmidt in a written statement.

The statement stood out for its admission that Palin is under siege – it condemns “this vetting controversy” – and for its attempt to blunt questions about how rigorously McCain and his campaign explored the background of a candidate who may get the nation’s second most powerful job.

“The McCain campaign will have no further comment about our long and thorough process,” Schmidt said.

1. Fine McCain, then you lose the election.
Sounds good to me.

It's becoming more clear every day that McCain is the one who is not qualified for the office.

What a bunch of nitwits telling the American people we have no business vetting the VP for ourselves.

4. It keeps pointing out how bad a "decision maker" McShame is.

That's really what it all boils down to. They know they fucked up and they know the more the media talks about the lack of vetting, the clearer it is that McShame is just beyond unqualified to be CiC. They really have shot themselves in the foot here.

5. Absolutely. If I were them I'd be playing the "nothing to see here, move along." card for all it
was worth. It's actually all they've got. If we just keep screaming about Palin's many issues and Mclame's poor judgement in this desperation pick, we'll drive them over the edge.
