For What It's Worth
I enjoy the fact that the Republicans have to explain Palin and sell her to the base. Every moment spent trying to talk their own kind into voting for the McLame/Batshit Crazy ticket is time and money they'd rather spend attacking Obama. Every day they have to waste making her case is a day that they can't try and reach out to those oh-so-important Independents.

As much as I'd like to cry about how Rovian this all seems, I don't think it is. There is no master plan; they only have a last ditch effort to save this race. Personally, I'd be scared if this was early Spring, instead of the beginning of the Fall. It's the fourth quarter and they're down by a brazillion :). Unlike recent elections in the past, scare tactics will only go so far. Last night, I heard, "noun verb 9-11, PALIN PALIN PALIN, noun verb POW, noun verb Ronald Reagan'. Everyone on TV, audience and presenters, seemed old and tired and scared of their own shadow. Hell, they can barely stay on script with a straight face. The tough talkers tried to turn the tables and say it's the Dem's that are scared, but it's rather obvious who's on defense these days.

Do we need to take this Palin character seriously? Of course we do. We shouldn't forget that 8 years ago another bumbling idiot managed to energize half the country. But this late in the game, every day is as precious as gold and it's going to take weeks of selling before they're even ready to stand on two feet and reach out... Just in time for Obama and Biden to smack the shit out of them in the debates. That is, if there's anything left to debate after the media tears into both of them for shitty judgment, horrible records, and for being complete fucking nutcases.

Another positive in all this mess is how much Palin energized our team. Even in the short time I've been on DU, I've never seen everyone basically working in unison. She is the epitome of everything we stand against.

So let them talk about the base. Let them have their own kind debate each other on the stupid box for all to see. Obama hasn't even lifted a finger to write a check, and they're imploding before our eyes. We need to do our job in holding the media's feet to the fire, donating to the appropriate parties, and staying active.

I can't wait for the debates.

3. That's a tough sell
The association game needs a direct correlation with no arguments. For every argument to vote for Palin based on something Obama has or hasn't done, the same argument can and usually does apply to Palin. Basically, it's a no gain situation. All she does is sew up some of their base, but there's no forward momentum merely based on her accord against the Democrats. She's nothing new and nothing to get excited about for middle of the road joe schmoe's, sans a pretty face.

4. That title is the title of a song from the past
At another turbulent time in the late 60s

For What It Is Worth
There is something happening here
What it si ain't exactly cleat
There is a man with a gun over there
Telling us we got to beware

Stop children what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down.

But this is a new age and we now have the net that makes it so much easier to look what is going down than it did in 1968
