How does working on a committee translate to executive experience?

Does it at all? And what exactly does one DO in the Senate Foreign Relations committee, or example? I'm in a debate right now with someone who adamantly believes that being Governor is more of a qualification than someone else who has over 30+ years in the senate and has served on numerous committees. :eyes:

1. Governors Have Committees Too

Anyone who thinks governors make their decisions like lone wolves is wrong. Governors meet with committees to discuss issues. The differences are this:
Governors usually pick their committees while senators must deal with elected peers chosen by voters.
Governors have the authority (and responsibility) to make the final decision, even if the rest of the committee doesn't agree. For senators, if they want it to go their way they have to persuade the others.

Senatorial (and congressional) committees meet and discuss issues related to their committee. They propose laws and vote on proposed laws. The bill must make it out of committee before it can be voted on by the full House of Senate.

I have "executive" experience. Doesn't mean I'm ready to be President.

Stop buying the rightwing bullshit. Call them on it. "Executive experience" doesn't mean a damn thing, and nobody in their right mind thinks Palin is more qualified than the Dems based on her mayoral experience in Wasilla or even her 16 months as governor of Alaska. It's an absurdity. Fuck "executive" experience. We want important policy experience and strong judgment, and Obama/Biden trump both McCain and Palin on both those scores. Stop speaking their deceptive language and get to the heart of the matter.
