They're attacking Obama; we're attacking Palin. I think it's about time the focus of the attacks shifted to McCain.
In his 25 years in Congress, what has McCain accomplished (according to Wikipedia):
(1) The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (2) McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform (and we see how effective that was) (3) The Line Item Veto bill, which didn't pass Constitutional muster
Of course, in all those years, he's voiced opinions and has been involved in various issues, and pushed various bills that were defeated. But, those types of accomplishments are more measures of the many, many years he spent in Washington, D.C., not his skill. By those standards, for instance, Robert Byrd would be the most accomplished Senator just because he's been in the Senate longest.
McCain showboats a lot and gets a lot of attention. He's better known than Obama because he's run for President more often and has been around a long time. But, I don't think he has all that many achievements to show for his 25 years in Congress, and that's part of the reason he remains reasonably popular with both Democrats and Republicans.
