People *here* are laughing at Palin.
People that are not political junkies don't really get what the fuss is about. The $$ media plays into this. "Unmarried pregnancies are happening more and more. This makes Palin Sr. a more sympathetic character. Could happen to anyone." Some tv goon actually said that it makes the average voter "want to have a beer with" Palin Sr. I wish I were kidding. I wish *he* was kidding.

Out of context, the pregnancy is not a big deal. But context is everything. This is the abstinence only party. This is about how well Palin was vetted by McCrank ( i.e. not well). Palin speaks volumes about McCain's future appointments and decision making. The pregnancy is one small aspect. Palin's loaded with other baggage which the $$$ media ignores...preferring to pretend it's all a cute Juno sequel.

The DEMS... and not the media... will have to to bring down Palin.

1. The sheer number of scandals are hilarious without the pregnancy
And they will keep coming. And coming. And coming. We're at least a day ahead of most MSM saturation here.

It's a classic media feeding frenzy. They're not going to stop until they either run out of scandals or she drops out.

14. She's not Quayle. Those days are gone.
>>>>It's a classic media feeding frenzy. They're not going to stop until they either run out of scandals or she drops out.>>>>

She's actually LESS qualified than Quayle and the idea of her as VEEP even more ridiculous but there's NO INDEPENDENT MEDIA anymore so I don't see... nor do I expect... any 'feeding frenzy' of the sort that *nearly* ( but did NOT, in the end) sink Quayle.

What I see in the popular media is furious spinning and excuses being made for McSame and the pregnancy covered like it was an old episode of "Seventh Heaven".

And no coverage at all of Palin's 2 yrs. plus of misrule in Alaska. We talk about that but no one else does... near as I can tell.

2. Yes we will.
The media ain't gonna do shit for us.

I'm not laughing at her, although she is ridiculous....but when one has the media on one's side, it ain't no laughing matter.

12. The media has propped up Bush for 8 long years, and
managed to convince millions of Americans-twice-that he was worthy of their vote.

If they can help "select" a dumbass like Bush, they can help "select" anybody. And, I agree wholeheartedly. Palin is simply ridiculous.

3. "This is the abstinence only party." Remember they change the rules so they're always in the right.
Just look at how much this teenage pregnancy is being defended by those on the Right. All they care about now is that the baby wasn't aborted.

5. We should be framing the issue that this is a woman who is not fit to be making public policy
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 01:05 AM by avaistheone1
on reproductive rights when she has voted against sex education and supports abstinence only programs which have proven to be a failure nationwide. Her own personal story of her daughter is a prominent example of that.

Palin wants to intrude on the privacy of millions of women and teens all over this country by banning abortion and outlawing birth control, and supporting Just Say No education for teens.

6. exactly the whore media does not put it in context
her cutting funds for teen moms is another thing.

all they report is that her daughter is pregnant and then tell people it makes them more real because it's a challenge that many families face.

8. Most family struggle to support their own kids, and are over whelmed
when they put in a position where they have to provide primary support their children's children.

9. Our future may end up in her hands, thats nothing to laugh at!
I agree we have to do everything to get rid of her NOW! We were effective in forcing her to out her daughter to quiet the noise about her covering up the real story about baby Trig but we slacked off. So now, she appears to be an average person with problems that can happen to anyone. If we could somehow force the truth out, she would be finished! Right now, no one really cares about the corrupution and other things she has done. They only pay attention to the bits and pieces they manage to hear and see on their nightly news or via a friend. Their not getting the whole story. How do we change this??

11. Actually, the fact that the GOP is playing up the white trash angle
themselves is very helpful. They seem to think that if Americans bought Chimpy, who came off as dumb but still held a degree from Harvard and sprang from a blue-blood former President, then they'll buy a gal with a small-pond political history, a BA in journalism, who can't seem to keep track of her own brood, and thinks God wants her to build a gas pipeline. I'm going to bet they're overplaying their hand this time.

15. I don't think so. I think the religious right is behind it. McLoon finally whored himself
out for good--he's all in, they are running the show. The GOP is devolving down to a core of fundie crazies, gun nuts, neocon Israel-firsters, and minority/women-haters. One look at their new platform pretty much says it all. But they will lose the indie/moderate Dem vote that made McLoon a contender. They shot themselves in the foot.

16. The Constitution spells out QUALIFICATIONS
let's keep the conversation on fitness, knowledge, judgment, understanding of the issues, solutions, and temperament for President and knock them off the box.

The cycle should tell anyone that the qualifications argument doesn't have a whole lot of traction. Stop being distracted with minutia. We had successfully moved beyond the experience conversation and then McCain throws out Palin and we go back there our own damn selves.

We need to get back on message ASAP.

>>>>fitness, knowledge, judgment, understanding of the issues, solutions, and temperament for President and knock them off the box.>>>>

deficiency in these areas?

Besides, I'm not sure if Obama ever said that experience was *irrelevant*. In fact, he more or less acknowledged it's significance by tapping Biden... who is nothing if not experienced.
