there's bad country and then there's real country. A lot of people get them mixed up. I'm a rock and roll girl and I used to hate country. Then I was introduced to good country music, not that pretend everything-sounds-the-same-bad-Hallmark-Cards-lyrics country. I Discovered the Chicks through singer/songwriter Patty Griffin - they've covered several of her songs. The Chicks are a rare blend of pop/commercial country and, to me, authentic sounding country. And those ladies have mastery of those instruments, they can play. Any band that can spot the genius of Patty Griffin is worth taking a second look at. Speaking truth to power is the icing on the cake.
