They need to enlist and get themselves over to Iraq if they love WAR so much. Fucking hypocrites.

"Celebs for McCain: Yes, Virginia, There are a Few"

By Jacob S. Lybbert (Bio | Archive)
August 28, 2008 - 16:30 ET

"In my short time here at NewsBusters, I've pounded away at the left's obsession with celebrities and especially their outsized role in Obama's campaign--going so far as to "advise" the candidate. You won't see any of that from the celebrities supporting John McCain. They're happy to keep their involvement to voice-overs for campaign ads and donations.

The Weekly Standard reports on a recent meeting of Hollywood conservatives, attended by such luminaries as James Caan and Robert Duvall of The Godfather fame and Jerry Bruckheimer, Dean Cain, and Angie Harmon.

If it was a good night for John McCain, it was an even better night for Hollywood's long-closeted conservative community. Many of those in attendance are members of the Friends of Abe, an informal group of entertainment-industry conservatives--part social club and part support group--founded by actor Gary Sinise. They have been meeting quietly at out-of-the-way diners and bars in and around Los Angeles for four years expanding their membership by word of mouth.
Walking out of the meeting, Duvall and Caan were asked about their support for McCain. Duvall said, "he's an American hero. He's got character. He's been around. The other guy? I just don't know."

But Duvall didn't leave it at that. He was particularly annoyed by comments Gore Vidal made in June questioning McCain's experience as a POW. He called Vidal "an American icon-slash-dilettante," and said that even McCain's "96 year-old mother could beat the crap out of Gore Vidal with her shoe, and you can quote me on that."

Liberal celeb-surrogates take note: this is the type of support you should be providing your chosen candidate."

the embarrassing joke that someone much wiser than me once referred to "Mike Love and whatever bunch of paunchy guys in Hawaiian shirts he trots out as the Beach Boys this year."

All I'm saying is, I hope no one confuses the real Beach Boys with the hollowed-out shell you see appearing at the RNC and at Six Flags.

41. I separate the art from the artist-- else I'd be very bored.
Your list is a prime example why I separate the art from the artist-- else I'd be very bored. I find no good reason to either like or dislike a song, or a movie, or a book, or a painting due to the artists personal lives, political tendencies, religion, color, or hair-style.

If I didn't separate the two, I'd live in a world without the songs of Irving Berlin and Prokofiev, or the films of Eisenstein and Capra, or the screen presence of Bing Crosby and Irene Dunne-- and that would be a rather bleak existence for me...

63. Too bad about Lacey - very disappointing
When did she speak at the RNC? Details? She's not a celeb crush now, but I had a moderate one when I was younger.

Gretchen Wilson is a bit overrated IMO, but I was disappointed she is showing her true Repuke colors. Heidi Montag is another young Repuke McCain supporter; never had a crush on her. I knew about Emily Procter. Emily didn't like Bush, but McCain is a different story.

Good people:
