It looks like the tactic is to attempt to bully the media into shutting up about Palin.
In the speeches and in the interviews, they were trying to shut the media up about her - basically bullying and accusing the media of taking sides by asking legitimate questions. Gingrich got right in the face of the reporter on MSNBC, trying to bait him into arguing for Obama.

I hope the media isn't cowed by this tactic.

Showing all the whores and johns...I mean lobbyists and their big parties.
