3. Joe's transformation to Republican is now complete

It was a three-step process:

1. Getting defeated as an incumbent Democrat in his re-election primary and re-emerging as an Independent. Being re-elected as an an Independent, he could no longer claim to be a Denocrat.

2. Showing up at the GOP convention and misrepresenting himself to the rest of the world as a "Democrat" for McCain.

3. And in the same speech, singing the praises of VP candidate Sarah Palin as a true-blue "maverick" in the spirit of John McCain, a person that all truly patriotic Democrats should be supporting. This person opposes every progressive principle imaginable, and no true Democrat would put his- or herself in the position of being an apologist for her reactionary politics.

So nice job, Joe Republican. The delegates even clapped politely during your speech. However, had you been put on the ticket, they would have run you out of town on a rail. Let's hope that Harry Reid keeps you in his future plans.
