5. Well Worth The Read: Declined to Run for Senate Due To Hockey Mom Duties

This opposition research paper is well worth reading. While Mayor of Wasilla, Ms. Palin upped the budget for outside contract services by 932%, among numerous other spending increases over those of the previous mayor.

It also notes that when interviewed by the Anchorage News (4/24/04) about a possible Senate run, Ms. Palin declined because of her son's hockey team: "How could I be the hockey team mom if I was a U.S. Senator."

I guess that now that her son is no longer on the team, she considers herself available -- even though she has 3 school aged daughters (one of whom is unwed and pregnant) and an infant special needs son at home. Hockey is really, really important to Governor Palin.
