8 Reasons Sarah Palin is More Qualified than Barack Obama

8 Reasons Sarah Palin is More Qualified than Barack Obama

by Seth Grahame-Smith

Snippits:"So let's set the record straight. Sarah Pahlen (sp?) is not only more qualified for the Oval Office than Barack Obama -- she might just be the most qualified political candidate in our nation's history:

1. Putting Country First - Her membership in the Alaska Independence Party proves that she's exactly the kind of leader America needs: the kind that will always put country first -- even if that country happens to be The Republic of Alaska. Obama claims he loves America -- but has he ever loved it enough to favor seceding from it? It's called tough love, Senator. Look into it.

2. Independence - Sarah hates indicted Senator Ted Stevens, but raised money for him. She hates the "bridge to nowhere," but supported it. She wants to shatter Hillary's glass ceiling, but wears t-shirts touting the size of her boobs. Obama may call himself the candidate of "change," but Sarah Pailen's (sp?) entire political life has been about saying one thing, and then doing another. Now that's "change we can believe in."

3. Family Values - This is someone who's not afraid to preach abstinence for your daughter, even though her own unmarried 17-year-old daughter is pregnant. That's what I call dedication to family. Obama, on the other hand? A Muslim.

4. Intellect - Yes, Sarah recently admitted that she didn't know exactly what it was the Vice President did. Yes, she wants creationism taught in public schools. Yes, she doesn't believe global warming is manmade.

5. Military Affairs - As Governor, Pollen (sp?) is authorized to deploy Alaska's National Guard in times of emergency. And while the Guard's Adjunct General admits that she plays no role in national defense, and isn't briefed on military exercises, the fact is -- she's been photographed holding a machine gun, while Obama has yet to wield so much as a .38 for the cameras. When it comes to keeping me safe, that's all I need to know.

6. Foreign Affairs - While Obama likes to take Middle East tours, meet with Europe's leaders, and brag about his running mate being the foreign policy voice of the Senate, he can't hold a candle to Palenn's (sp?) understanding of today's complex, dangerous world. Yes, Sarah admitted that she hadn't paid much attention to the war in Iraq, but she knew enough to rightly call it a "task from God." Yes, she's only left North America once in her life, but her experience as a local sportscaster gave her the ability to follow events as they unfold at lightning speed. And as Cindy McCain pointed out, while Barack Obama was sipping lattes in Cambridge Square, Sarah Pinkston (sp?) was staring down the barrel of Putin's Kalashnikov -- a one woman wall keeping America safe from invasion.

7. Restoring America's Image - Who better than a former beauty queen to add some new luster to America's battered image?

8. Her Soul - In one 15-minute meeting, and one follow-up phone call, John McCain was able to determine that Sarah was more than his running mate -- she was his "soul mate." Not only that, but that she was more qualified to be a heartbeat away from the Oval Office than any Republican on earth. Yes, this is a testament to the power and quickness of McCain's decision making. But it's also a testament to the power of Sarah Payton's (sp?) soul. As a Muslim, it's not even clear that Obama has a soul.

So Sarah Pillston (sp?) qualified to be Vice President? To be one bad biopsy away from being the most powerful human being on earth? To lead America back to prominence and prosperity, while keeping us safe from a world of ever-changing threats?

In her own words: "Yup...yup."

3. Take The High Ground
Not to come across as some kind of Palin apologist, but I wonder at a few points made in the article:

1. How are the actions of her daughter a legitimate subject for debate?

2. I have heard rumors that she wanted Creationism taught...were they ever found to be accurate or is this still in the "Mass Email Forwarding/Theory" phase?

3. Same goes for the "I Want Alaska To Secede" deal (and, quite honestly I may move to the frist state to do so with the way this country has been going).

Sorry...I'm just interested in fighting the good fight and not dropping to the rumormill/mud-slinging level.

6. Seriously...
...why the sarcasm?

We need to stick to the issues and bury them with that.

Mud-slinging and character assasination only serves to empower those it is directed at. This has proven true election after election.

Attacking this woman over stupid stuff like her daughter being pregnant and what not is only going to strengthen the resolve of Hilary supporters, the right-wingers and the un-decided.

There's plenty of room to bury both McCain/Palin on the issues alone. If we stick to them then we have a good shot of putting Obama/Biden in the White House.

Or, we could just snicker like school-children and keep throwing rocks, all the while throwing away a chance at something great this November.

15. Let me 'splain some things to you
McShame/Impalen are not going to pull Hillary supporters. See there are women out there who say they are Hillary supporters but they aren't, full stop. Women who really support Hillary, support her values too--look as far right as you can then look as far left as you can, that is the vast amount of difference between Impalen's and Hillary's values.

As far as the teen-age daughter... it's not at all about her, it's about the hypocrisy of it all. For over a decade (if not longer) the wing nuts have derailed families for getting into the Impalen's current predicament as being Godless heathens. So, when one of their own, who supposedly preaches abstinence has one of her own little sheep go off the abstinence path, it damn well gives us the right, nay, the responsibility to point out the disconnect between what they practice and what they preach.

If you haven't figured out now that National politics isn't about throwing rocks, then you need to read some history books. It's not about throwing rocks but how well you throw them.

I'm glad you want to take the high-road and show so much concern for the party's fate but think about what you're really saying before you say it.

10. Don't "worry."
That won't happen, especially not because of some satirical article on a website.

13. First day on DU and expressing
"concern" about how "we" are doing things, wringing your hands about losing and telling people here what to do. Wagging a finger.

We've seen it before. Hundreds of times.

And while you may have attempted to not come across as a Palin apologist, you have failed in your quest. Better luck on your second day ... if you make it.

14. Oh well...
I'd heard that free speech wasn't exactly "free" on some of these websites.

If I end up getting kicked off for going against the status quo then so be it.

I'm a bit offended that you immediately peg me as a Palin apologist when all I did was ask some legitimate questions.

The bottom line is that we look stupid when we cling to trivial crap and personal attacks instead of tearing these people apart on the issues.

Anyone who can't come to terms with that...well...I don't know what to say.

If I'm out of line here I'm sure the people who run this place will let me know.

16. Where did ANYONE get the idea that free speech applied to
the internet????

There are all sorts of things you aren't allowed to say on different sites, depending on the admins/owners posting rules. It's their sandbox, buddy.

Just the fact that you brought that up and I've seen soooo many right wingers posing as Dems saying that makes you suspicious.

18. Free Speech...
...is, of course, limited to a certain extent.

Perhaps I should have been more clear and used the term "freedom of expression".

I could counter your point by saying that most right-wingers I know tend to bash anyone who doesn't agree with them implicitly...does that make you a right-winger, as well?

17. 1. Sarah Palin slashed funds for Pregnant teens, opposes sex education and advocates abstinence only...
education. These are facts that have been confirmed by multiple credible sources:

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/09/02/palin_slashed_funding_to_help.html?hpid=artslot

2. Sarah Palin does support teaching creationism in public schools. This is also a fact supported by multiple credible sources:

http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles_of_faith/2008/08/sarah_palin_on.html

3. Sarah Palin and her husband Todd were members of the pro-secessionist Alaskan Independence Party, attended their 1994 convention and addressed their 2008 convention. Todd, her husband only changed his membership from AIP to Republican in 2002. These are also facts supported by multiple credible sources:

24. 2. Creationism: She supported it in the gubernatorial election
The volatile issue of teaching creation science in public schools popped up in the Alaska governor's race this week when Republican Sarah Palin said she thinks creationism should be taught alongside evolution in the state's public classrooms.

Palin was answering a question from the moderator near the conclusion of Wednesday night's televised debate on KAKM Channel 7 when she said, "Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of information. Healthy debate is so important, and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both."

Her main opponents, Democrat Tony Knowles and Independent Andrew Halcro, said such alternatives to evolution should be kept out of science classrooms. Halcro called such lessons "religious-based" and said the place for them might be a philosophy or sociology class.
...
The Republican Party of Alaska platform says, in its section on education: "We support giving Creation Science equal representation with other theories of the origin of life. If evolution is taught, it should be presented as only a theory."

So, yes, the 'rumours' are completely accurate. It was a standard line for Alaskan Republicans. They all have problems separating myth from reality, it seems.
