Ok, Fineman, I don't know all of the details on the AIP and Palin's involvement, but I think it was slightly higher than her saying "something nice about the guy (leader) once". Fineman said that the Mccain capaign emailed him and said that they would show "registration cards from Sarah to show that she was a Republican the whole time". Roger Simon seemed to think that it would be devestating if it was found out that she had more involvement in the party.

God, I wish that the MSM would just start researching this and stop going on what the fucking Mccain campaign is telling them...they have proven to not know what the fuck is up with Palin!

15. and she belongs to sect that preaches obedience to husband
and don't forget that she let husband sit in on government meetings, etc. So if her husband is the shadow governor, will he be the shadow VP? Great work for a secessionist if you can get it.

3. I thought ABC had an article that said she was a member for two years?
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 04:19 PM by book_worm
This was the strongest thing against her, imo, other than her inexperience and extremism.

4. Being a member of the party is a little more than just a passing compliment
But of course what is important here is getting a seemingly plausible lie to stick in the public's mind because what they feel and believe is all that matters.

Why would a governor even think about doing a video message with a group like that?
She has to answer to this.

(the one about "I have no time for America and its damn institutions"" or something, and said "wow...this is heavy stuff.) COME ON , CHRIS! Get on this story, would you? Don't rely on Howard Fineman's parroting, who is wrong more times than he is right.

11. She attended (and her husband) the 94 convention
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 04:25 PM by PolNewf
We have video of members mentioning her as a prior member long before McCain made her politically relevent, before there would be any motivation to lie about it.
Current members state that she was a prior member.

This could get good if McCain tries to cover it. He is only trying to pushback the media at the moment.

21. How old are those videos that mention her membership?
That they exist before her political relevancy would be an argument in their favor.

20. And this is a journalist???????
He gets e-mails from the McCain campaign claiming that Palin wasn't an AIP member and that becomes a fact? And this guy gets paid for what? Certainly not for doing any investigative journalist work. Maybe he gets paid for flattering Republicans and getting on their good side, parroting whatever they say so he can get exclusive interviews with them.

Palin's husband was recently a card-carrying AIP member. Several people at the top of AIP say that Palin was herself a member for two years, up to 1994. Palin's number one political mentor during her political career is Wally Hickel, former candidate for President of the AIP. Palin attended the 1994 AIP convention. She spoke at the 2000 AIP convention as the introductory speaker and even said "keep up the good work". She spoke at the convention of a party that specifically stated as one of its goals the infiltration of other parties to better spread their agenda by becoming members of those other parties. Yes, definitely keep up the good work. And it's notable that both Wally Hickel and Sarah Palin, his protegee, left the AIP and became Republicans at the same time. Palin has continued to perform as a politician by pursuing issues on the AIP agenda: gun rights, no property taxes, home-schooling.
