Want to help the Repugs win in '08? Then ridicule Palin and her family
The Republicans understand that there are millions of people (mostly simple, poor, white, rural folk) who identify with the Palin family. Ridiculing the Palin family is, in a way, ridiculing their way of life. The Republicans know fully well this ridicule will turn these voters off from the Democrats.

You can be pretty sure part of the Republican strategy involves "liberal" critics, bloggers, etc. making fun of the Palins. Saying things like they belong on the Jerry Springer Show, calling them trailer trash, white trash, etc. only serves to alienate these people from the Democratic Party.

Making fun of the Palins, instead of focusing on the issues, will only contribute to making McCain President in '08.

2. wrong. it makes fucking no difference if we ridicule the repulsive palin
and her family. In fact, the stupid bristol-mother-of-trig story worked to dem advantage. I was wrong about that. the story was ridiculous but it forced the truth out at a very inopportune time for the pukes. And try looking back a few years. the pukes made merciless fun of Kerry and Edwards. They won. duh. McCain/Palin are falling in the polls.

You couldn't be more wrong, or more controlled by your fear and the myth of the all powerful repukes.

25. Already backfired other way..
McCain thrust an unqualified ill-prepared and poorly vetted candidate on his Party in the cynical hopes that he could steal some female voters from Obama, while working the fundies into a frenzy over her pro-life pro-gun cheerleading.

Time to pay the piper, and nope I won't back down.

Baby gate was just a launching point to get Palin in the news so that she did not use the MSM to spread her message.
Now we can concentrate on the real biggie like her link to AIP and her lies about the bridge to no where

unqualified governor to take the control panel in the event of his incapacity or death.

That's really the hinge.

The question about his judgment depends on his motive for choosing Palin.

I am not convinced that the Palin family story is sufficiently representative of the American voters you reference. Some, certainly. But all so many? I think that is up for debate.

The ridicule is a political reaction, IMO, and not personal, and its target is McCain's judgment and not Bristol Palin's private life.

palin's record in Alaska and hypocritical events going on that contrast her policies.

It's the hypocricy and john mccain is actually helping the Progressive view by being the catalyst in exposing it.

8. You are assuming that the kind of people who are remotely pro-Palin would have ever been
attracted to the Democratic Party in the first place. We don't have to go after THEIR base, we just have to keep ours. And OUR base wouldn't spit on someone who is as rabidly anti-abortion, anti-birth control, secessionist, inexperienced, poorly traveled, and poorly educated on national and international matters as Palin is if they were on fire.

As I have said many times already...I don't see the point of making fun of Palin over the pregnancy of her 17 year old unmarried daughter when there are so many OTHER things to make fun of her for. Also, there don't seem to be as many 'babygate' threads as 'AIPgate' threads.

You need to search for some other reason to slap wrists.

28. Yes, actually,
it was extremely weak when he let the repubs get a way with that week-long whine fest over Mary Cheney. John Kerry NEVER should have backed down from that, he was right.

See, this is the repubs m.o., you get outed for hypocrisy in your personal life, so you counter attack until you make the other guy apologize for something he didn't do. It makes you look weak and wrong.

36. I think it would help if the Obama camp focused a spotlight on Sarah Palin's lies and hypocrisy.
You, however, want to post smears against Democrats suggesting we're all "attacking" Bristol Palin when no one is actually doing that. I get really sick of reading posts by whiny, do-nothing, "Democrats" who want our leaders to run away from every argument and apologize for having the temerity to run against repubs.

I don't call that a winning strategy. I know you do, so we'll just have to disagree with each other.

Now you can cry about how mean I was to you. :eyes:

19. Oh it's hitting them where it hurts and hence the talking point
to deflect and beg for mercy.

They don't want to talk about how irresponsible their beliefs are. If soooo many can identify with the Palin's then many should be looking for ways to break these kinds of cycles.
This isn't making fun, this is a real and growing problem across the country and Palin's views are in so many ways a directive to let them eat cake.

Bristol, despite any beating in the media, is going to have a lot easier time than most teenage mothers.
