And if you think of it in terms of Blue States and Red States the sides are eerily familiar..

1. don't compare bush to lincoln...
lincoln was called upon to do the necessary... bush is provoking the division.... not creating it but playing it up....

2. Lincoln was polarizing
No doubt about it, but I think he made a sincere effort to unify the country. His second inaugaration speech was pretty amazing in that respect and he called for forgiveness and unity.
