It's gone past vetting here
And getting sexist and ugly. This is not beneficial. While she is an easy target, crucifying her is just what Rove wants us to do.

We need to focus on why Palin is not qualified and point out why it is such a glaring example of disastrous judgment on the GOP's part.

Why Palin is not a good candidate due to the influences of her religious background.

How she used her political influence for a family fight.

How she misrepresented her interest in the Bridge to Nowhere.

Why her policy of not supporting sex education fails.

And take the personal out of it. Make it about policy.

early on and the repukes are good and fucked here. McCain and failin' palin are sinking in the polls. Their convention got stepped on big time, and all some DUers can do is look at how bad this all is for dems. ridiculous.

3. There's still 2 months left
And it's only been 4 days since she was introduced. We'll get to policy once this plays out.

10. agreed!
Once her out-of-touch policies come to light, they will fall on more fertile ground if people already think she's a hypocrite.

Until sanity returns around here then.

Meanwhile, time is being wasted and this board is not being productive and it's feeling just a bit slimy now. It's gone past being ripe.

6. Yes, I am sure that Reverend Wright would agree with you.
This is not about the children but the woman who bore them. Really we can 'not talk' about all of this if your intention is to have a President McCain. You can make this sexist if you wish, but I think this is about an irresponsible HUMAN. GO figure.

9. Our main concern should be how this plays with independents.
None of us were going to vote for McCain anyway and have even less reason to do so with the Palin nomination. Conservatives are more fired up now for the repub ticket and will be on board no matter what family dirt we throw out there.

We need to give more thought to how this plays out to independent voters. The political issues you raised are good ones for attacking her and McCain. To the extent that liberals' focus on Palin's pregnant teenage daughter and her skills as a parent may not help us with independents. Some independents may see this focus as bringing to light her bad parenting and hypocrisy, but others may view it getting too personal and perhaps reminding them of things that have happened in their own families.

Both sides need independents to win the election. While it is natural for us to enjoy repubs getting caught up in their hypocrisy (just as I'm sure they do when one of our own falters), let's not forget that the idea is to win the election.
