Palin had Piper at night and was back to work the next day
Wow - taking 3 days after Trig was a vacation to this woman.

The 1996 Wasilla contest was hardly an electoral earthquake— Palin won 617 votes to 413 votes— but she moved quickly: In her first year in office, she asked the city's top managers to resign—or pledge allegiance to her—fired the police chief and cut the city museum's budget to the point that all three employees quit in protest.

Property tax cuts and a focus on bread-and-butter matters like roads, sewer and water supplies helped her win re-election in 1999. But her rapid rise came with sharp elbows and led to enemies, said Alaska state Senate President Lyda Green, a Republican who represents the area.

"You go under the bus and find a crowd there," said Green, a former friend who had a falling-out with Palin. Others here worry that Palin's growing family — she and husband Todd have five children —could preoccupy her in Washington.

Wasilla Mayor Keller laughed at such concerns, saying that when Palin gave birth to her fourth child the then-mayor displayed the same drive that helped the Warriors win the state title 26 years ago.

"She had Piper at night," Keller said. "And she was back at work the next day."

1. Trig was born on Friday.
She might have been to work earlier, you understand. I wonder how she feels about maternitiy leaves for women?

11. Good point - otherwise she probably would've been back to work
Next day.

Gawd, if she gets in the WH women better be afraid for their maternity leave!

3. Does she spin straw into gold too?
Maybe next time she'll just give birth at her desk during a conference call.

6. someone tell me she took the baby to work
I can't even imagine a "compassionate conservative" female so cold she pop one out and then leave it the very first day with no bonding with it's mother.

7. After 3 days, she left a high-risk, special needs baby in a hospital without a NICU and...

...traveled more than 800 miles away so that she could return to her job. Also, I read that, when questioned during the pregnancy about who would be caring for the child, she responded that her husband was going to become a stay-at-home dad. Well, that lasted all of a month, at which point she admitted that she had never actually discussed it with him.

Is this what's meant by "Focus On the Family?"

13. The fact that she left her baby in the hospital and returned to Juneau, three days after he was born
is a matter of record and was reported in the Alaska Daily News. The link has appeared in multiple DU threads over the last few days. As for the distance between Wasilla and the capitol, you can find that at Google maps.

The information about how Todd Palin was going to stay home--but didn't--is from a blog commenter, Sue Williams, and can be found here: http://mudflats.wordpress.com/2008/08/30/off-to-the-land-of-palin (do a control find for Sue Williams). Yes, it's only a blog and includes no corroborating links. That's why I referred to it only as something that I'd also read. However, this woman, Sue Williams, quite accurately reported Bristol Palin's pregnancy at least a couple of days before it was publicly admitted by her mother.

14. Thanks so much for the info..................
I've been scattered the last few days, first with hurricane prep, which we ended up dodging and then today, for some reason, our internet connections have been very slow and we lost electricity four times, for a few hours each time. The wind wasn't really that bad here, but who knows what the next couple of days will bring. LOL, I've just been bookmarking like crazy and will catch up as soon as things even out here, IF Palin is still even more than a footnote to history by then.
