Why select a running mate already embroiled in an investigation? And, as I understand it, the baby story was already going around in her home state of Alaska, and the McCain camp should have known that even if we, the general public, did not.

3. Correction. Palin did not take the VP job.

She accepted the offer to be McCain's running mate. She can't "take the VP job" unless and until elected, and, of course, we hope that does not happen.

I agree that she was poorly vetted. Whatever the truth behind the rumors and scandals, clearly she had a lot hanging over her head when she was asked, and that alone makes her a foolish choice.
