Anyone want to see my Kerry rally pics? From Tacoma Washington rally
We had thousands in attendance. A large and VERY anti-Bush crowd.

Can you spot Kerry? He's the tall guy up front that everybody is looking at!

A very large crowd covering a 4 city block area. We got to jam to the Wailers and the Kingsmen singing "Louie, Louie" Washington state's unofficial state song and sang America the Beautiful with Garrison Keillor. Wes Clark intro'd Kerry.

Craning to see Kerry.

Where folks want to send Bush.

Mr. Generic Other who nearly got in fight with pro-life anti-Kerry Catholic on the way to the rally.

They made confetti fall from the sky! Whoohoo!

As I left the rally, I ran into my state legislative district representative. I mentioned that I had been reading that we were a swing state and found that hard to believe as evidenced by the huge turnout for Kerry. She said she thought the GOP had written us off as a lost cause. That's the reality in Washington. Kerry's taking this state friends! It's going to be Kerry by a landslide.

Floating on clouds...

6. We are too cool
In the Tacoma Dome, 1000 guitarists were trying to break the Guinness Book of Records for the most guitars somewhat simultaneously playing "Louie, Louie." What fun!

4. Those are magnificent pictures, Generic Other!
So that's you in the "No War" shirt?

I talked to two older people, from Seattle, who came into our store in New York this summer about the election because they saw my Kerry/Edwards button. I asked them if they thought Kerry was going to take Washington and they said.."about 85% chance".

I think the prospects are even better today!

15. Just getting a little icon
with a question mark. Usually I can view all the photos posted here, and can see the Reuters one at the bottom.

I'd love to see these and count on our Internet team of real journalists and photographers from around the country for my news. If it wasn't for DU, I would never have seen the great crowds in Ohio or Portland.

Rats!

think were there? I'm just wondering if he's still drawing the great crowds that he and Edwards had right after the convention?

17. Let's see Bush has been here twice in 4 years to meet 200 rich folk
in an exclusive gated community. Kerry came and met the rest of us.

I think 10,000 might be a good estimate. We don't turn out like that for Republicans. Trust me. It was packed.

20. Yeah right, and they never get the weather report wrong either
The Tacoma Dome parking lot is 2 blocks long and 2 blocks wide. We filled that area to overflowing. Packed shoulder-to-shoulder.

There was a line stretching for five blocks and 8 or 9 metal detector stations searching bags.

"Hundreds"? That's how I would characterize the line to the portopotties.

HUGE crowd! I'm sorry, but there's just no way the chimp can with without stealing the election. Electronic voting machines are their only hope.

27. Here are my own pictures from Tacoma, plus articles & other stuff....
I was there, too! Some of us volunteers from Bellingham carpooled down to Tacoma with our blue tickets. I was running on only a half-hour of sleep; I'd been WAY too excited the night before!

I got a whole bunch of photos. My photos, my own brief summary of the day, and also links to all the news articles I could find about the Tacoma rally are here:

http://kerry-tacoma.daveward.net

If you were there, then you remember how one chant of "Turn off the lights! Turn off the lights!" morphed into "Turn off the lights -- please! Turn off the lights -- please!"? I'm the person who started adding the word "please" until the rest of the crowd joined me. I figured we Democrats are supposed to be nice, so why not be polite about it? :D

Anyway, I'd love to add photos by some of the others who were there. If you were there, drop me an email, ok? (You can contact me by email at the site above.) And if you drop me an email and contribute, there's something in it for you. (tease, tease...)
