Ha!!! Bush Crawfished the Convention
Due to concerns about the hurricane approaching the gulf coast, President Bush will not be appearing at the republican convention.

Whew!!! That was close. Almost had to to let the drunk monkey appear in public.

ST. PAUL, Minn.: Republicans scrambled on Sunday to change the tone of their national convention as delegates streamed into town amid scenes on TV of people fleeing Hurricane Gustav on the Gulf Coast. The White House said the monster storm would make President Bush's opening-day attendance unlikely.

1. Give me, please, a break.
Bush must've been so thrilled at finding an excuse not to go that he stick'd himself with a pretzel.

2. At least now his evil miasma won't be permeating my city.
Not that the drunken monkey can do anything about the hurricane regardless of where he is. I guess he wants to "monitor" it or something while he lounges on a couch drinking Cutty Sark and eating Cheetos. I just hope he doesn't try to go down there to try to seem all "concerned" while he and his entourage get in the way of the people who have real work to do.

3. Or it could mean that he actually heard the criticisms
and realized that this is bad for McCain. I'm not saying it doesn't have a political motivation, but maybe something finally got through his thick skull.

4. This is good for the Republicans. It makes it easier to claim they're the "change"
It's shameless, but they'll do it anyway. They're gonna run as offering change from the last eight years of fuck ups they've given us.

5. Democratic Convention makes it impossible for Bush to attend GOP fest
This is truly hilarious. of course, they will paint it as Bush being truly concerned about the impact of Gustav, etc., and it is, surely, partly that. But another big part of it is the complete success of the Dem Convention in tying Mccain to Bush, and the desperate GOP need to get clear of that if they hope for anything but nationwide electoral catastrophe.

Imagine it: an outgoing, 8 year sitting President being unable to attend his own party's convention that will presumably seal his legacy! It's unheard of, and the unkindest cut of all. Bush is persona non grata at his own party's convention. Hilarious.

6. McCain's pro-Bush voting record will still be represented at the Convention and throughout
the campaign.
