This has been planned for 2 years, 16k hotel rooms booked, and the news has been broadcasting the millions of dollars that will feed the state's economy. My bet is that it will go right on as scheduled - just Shrub may not be there, unfortunately.

go on but everyone will be scrambling to change their speeches to include the Gulf Coast in their prayers, tributes to people in the area, etc.

I think the convention will have to be more low key.

I agree there is no way they can postpone the convention. Not financially or logistically possible. Think about the hotel rooms, travel plans, pre-purchased airline tickets, airtime. It would be a disaster...although not as big a disaster as the convention itself will be.
