1. Can you imagine the arrangements that will have to be made? All
those resources diverted from disaster relief? Police that will be detailed to him rather than to helping victems? This man cannot possibly be so vile as to do this. With everything that has happened to date, I would mark such an outrage as the "down the tubes" moment for this campaign and if the American people swallow this stunt, it will be the "down the tubes" moment for this country.

3. Considering what a disaster he is
Its almost appropriate..

Will there be Cake and a guitar jam session with Bush while people par-boil in their attics to Death?

Gee, I sure hope God doesn't send a sheet of plywood to nip off his head while Lying.. The way this guy's Karma has been catching up to him he'd be better off avoiding a hurricane..

5. Let him. Tell him to go for it.
He can flap his gums but I'll wager that Obama supporters will be on the ground volunteering to help in the cleanup, just like they did in Iowa during the floods this year. Help much appreciated and done without fanfare or speeches. The RW likes to posture in front of the cameras but it is when the cameras go away that you know the mettle of a leader.

8. It's also a set up for a joke
He gives a speech there, you bet every Dem strategist and pundit will be talking about how it's symbolic of the last 8 years and what 4 more years of disaster would look like.

6. I think it foreshadows what his presidency would be like
Not sure if that's going to play well. I can tell you this, if he actually does it, I'm writing my next column about how McCain standing in a disaster area is an apt visual and then outline what a tragedy he would be.

10. What a great contrast between Obama and mcpow.
Obama accepts to a live crowd of 84,000 with 38 million watching at home, as a celebration.

mcpow to a disaster zone, as people suffer, maybe even during a hurricane. Sounds like b*sh III.

11. He won't do it of course
But if he does, I can see Obama running ads the next day showing footage of Katrina, Bush, McCain and a cake.

12. He barged in on midwest flood areas also.
June 19, 2008

DES MOINES, Iowa — An aide to Gov. Chet Culver said Thursday that Republican presidential candidate John McCain ignored the governor's request to cancel a campaign visit amid a massive flood recovery effort in the state.

McCain toured flood-damaged sites in Iowa on Thursday, including the town of Columbus Junction in the southeast.

Patrick Dillon, Culver's chief of staff, said the governor was concerned that McCain's trip would divert local law enforcement from the flood recovery effort to provide security for McCain.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama canceled a scheduled visit to eastern Iowa last week at the request of state officials.

Gitcher popcorn, folks: it's gonna be two solid months of pure crap, and not just from them, either. They's pancakes to flip, hands to kiss and babies to shake.

17. The best counter will be organic - local citizens calling BS
Getting a mother on tape crying and saying "I just lost my house, and this fool is here chattering away - I wish he'd just leave and let us clean up" - likely to happen sometime, and would be so true it would stick with people.

18. This is perfect for him and he'll do it
This hurricane is a miracle for him. Think of him giving a regular nothing speech at the convention- stuttering, unable to read the teleprompter, boring, and constantly compared to Obama's triumph. OR.... in a dramatic setting, surrounded by storm damage and "victims" who were hand-selected to cry on his shoulder, Sarah and Cindy serving sandwiches and cokes behind him, and his theme will be "I am here for you!". That he is using tragedy for political gain won't matter. This will be a show equal to anything Bush did and about the only thing McCain can do to save his convention.
