I love this "we are too good to discuss this" crap.
The baby thing. You all know the story and some the details and the rumors. But the responses! This is fucking insane. This is not our business, we can't talk about this, this is personal, we yadda, yadda....

Well fucking excuse me, but I WANT TO KNOW. Why? because this woman has no fucking problems telling everyone who I can love, and uses it to become possibly our VP. I don't care if it's rumors. So fucking what! Since when did this place become the House of Lords?

Here's a woman that embodies the last sickening compilation of everything republican that makes one want to projectile vomit, but oh noes! No talking about her baby issue!

What are you all going to say when the gay bashing starts, and it sure as fucking hell will. But don't talk about HER personal life. That's OFF LIMITS!

some thing solid and I'm all the way behind you and banging the drum louder then anyone you can think of.

But what I've seen so far ain't enough - and believe me I would LOVE for this to be true

Sorry

21. I want the story to be true
and I don't want the Dems to look like idiots too

The Bush AWOL story proved 1 thing, If there was proof or even the suspicion of wrong doing on the reporter's side - THAT WAS MORE IMPORTANT then the question being examined in the report. It has been this way since FDR and the New Deal

Dan Rather lost his job - and NO one ever proved Bush fulfilled his service commitment

28. OK 4:24 into the video - when she walking up the stairs
No she is not pregnant

She leaned forward going up the stairs

No woman I know leans forward while pregnant walking upstairs.

Some one needs to talk to the production company that shot the video and find out when it was actually filmed. More often then not they are filmed months in advance

18. Why would you want a statement from the pilot?
Are you even aware of the facts? The flying-after-water-breaking is PALIN'S official story. Nobody here made that up. We just think that story is fishy because it would be such a reckless thing to do. The pilot wouldn't know anything because Palin's story is that she didn't tell the airline her water had broken.

17. I read some links from an Alaskan blog where the story
first surfaced. She certainly wouldn't be the first woman to raise her grandchild as her child.

As Binka said earlier, the daughter might have been too terrified to tell the parents, given her rabid pro-fetus stance, that she was pregnant until it was too late to terminate. If an adoptive couple was lined up, they might have backed out when the genetic testing revealed that the baby had Down Syndrome.

So, mom goes into panic mode and decides to lie to everyone that the baby is hers.

I can certainly see that scenario. Her flight from TX to AK with a leaking amniotic sac alone is reason for me to go :wtf:

At 44, she would be classified as high risk; Advanced Maternal Age. Her chart would be coded and colored differently than those who weren't AMA. Additionally, once it was discovered that she was carrying a baby with Down Syndrome, that would be an additional flag.

Given that many babies with DS are born with severe heart abnormalities, her decision to fly TO TX and give a speech that late in the pregnancy was wanton disregard for the health of that baby, if indeed she was pregnant.

25. You would think that the Edwards thing would clue some people in...
On DataLounge, a gay GOSSIP site, they had Edwards pegged weeks before anyone here even stared discussing it. Then I sat back on that one curious to see how it would transpire. It's rumor you know! Gossip! But soon some were posting about the possibility that it may be true and were dragged from pillar to post on how disgusting it was to even think such a thing let alone post it.

Well, wonders of wonders, it was true. Amazing how that rumor/gossip thing works on the internets. Who would think that a rumor would be true? It's inconceivable I tell ya!

27. I'm going to say that it's wrong, that if she wants to be able to choose the person ....
... that she spends the rest of her life with, that others should be able to make that decision for themselves as well.

That her decision to reluctantly approve health benefits for same-sex couples "because the legal options had ran out at this point" shows that she knows it's unconstitutional to discriminate based on sexual orientation. And, that she knows that states that have constitutional amendments against same-sex marriage or civil unions are in violation of the Federal constitution, because the Federal constitution overrides any state or territorial constitution.

Here's a link to her press release about vetoing the bill passed by the state congress because she knew it was unconstitutional.

http://gov.state.ak.us/print_news-23157.html

That when a person is sworn into office they put their hand on the Bible and take an oath to defend the Constitution, not putting their hand on the Constitution and taking an oath to defend the Bible, and if she is not capable of putting her own views aside when it comes to constitutional freedoms that she has no business anywhere near appointments to the Supreme Court.

And that last line goes quite a bit to both her pro-life stance as well as her anti-gay stance.

29. Remember that nobody here is "too good" to have a
knock-down, drag-out fight over cornflakes on fried chicken or on the merits of Olive Garden or over breast-feeding in public (or place other DU melt-down topic here).

People can get into some world-class poo-flinging over some topics on this board that I would have never thought possible. And those are the more shallow topics.

I agree that we do have more than our fair share of self-appointed, holier-than-thou prefects and hall-monitors around here.

31. For myself, I would much prefer a comprehensive takedown of her policy positions
than endless theorizing about her pregnancy.

I'd REALLY like to see more posts about the connections between her husband and Big Oil, about how her husband apparently is given access to ALL the information that flows through the Alaska governor's office.

I'd like to see more DUers digging into the many hints about her mismanagement and corruption when she was mayor of Wasilla. And more exploration into "Troopergate". And her appalling views on environmental issues.

Oh, and her utter lack of knowledge of foreign policy.

If I'm having a conversation with an undecided voter and want ammunition with which to convince them that Sarah Palin is bad news, I'm NOT going to launch into some lurid speculation about her damn pregnancy!

I want stuff that's actually USEFUL in the real world. Anyone who thinks some diatribe about when her water broke, or some weird theory about how her youngest baby is actually her daughter's is going to win over a wavering voter is too stupid to be giving political advice.

39. And? Why should anyone give a fuck about Edwards, who holds no office nor is running for one?
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 01:17 AM by scarletwoman
If you read my post, you will note that my point was/is about USEFULNESS.

When I'm phone banking for Obama, I'm NOT going to tell undecided voters that the McCain/Palin ticket is bad news because Palin flew from Alaska to Texas and back during her 8th month of pregnancy. Nor am I going to go "OMG, her youngest child might actually be her daughter's!"

I'm going to tell them that she's corrupt and beholden to Big Oil and bad for the environment and ignorant on the foreign policy front.

You know, stuff that's empirically provable.
