"Democrats Closed Ranks Behind Obama, Biden at Impressive Denver Convention"
Edited on Sat Aug-30-08 04:27 PM by quiet.american
For the love of the Democratic Party, if you're posting about Palin,
please also consider posting something about President Obama and
Vice President Biden (Yes We Can).

I'm hoping to find some fellow DU'ers out here who are also tiring of logging into DU and
seeing nothing but thread titles with you-know-who's name in them, and almost nothing about our
own magnificent candidates! :)

Please, let's not lose sight of our own brilliant candidates amidst McCain's sheer madness.

Thank you!

"Democrats Closed Ranks Behind Obama, Biden at Impressive Denver Convention"
http://www.kansascity.com/340/story/772166.html

It has been a good national convention for the Democrats, who made history by nominating Sen. Barack Obama for president and closed ranks behind him in convincing fashion.

On Thursday night, Obama put his powerful rhetorical skills on display before a stadium full of cheering Democrats. With passion and an occasional touch of humor, he lamented the failures of the Bush administration, outlined the fundamental concerns of middle-class voters and laid out an agenda for more equitable economic policies. He also spoke with confidence and authority on the need for stronger diplomacy and wiser use of the American military abroad.

It was an impressive speech, echoing the optimistic themes that have won Obama such broad support in the party.

Earlier in the week, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter expressed their enthusiastic approval. Sen. Hillary Clinton, Obama’s chief intraparty rival this year, made a strong show of support for his candidacy....

1. Kick and Rec!
Watching a replay of the speech now on C-Span.

I can't get enough of it.

I have lost count of how many times I have watched it.

6. Me too.
At first, I thought it was a solid speech that did exactly what it had to do. But the more I hear it and the more I read its text, the more remarkable it becomes.

He really fashioned a winner here.

11. The beauty pagent loser will be OUT of
everybody's system quickly. A Flash In The Pan.
Palin's appearance can claim a few news cycles..she is just another nail in the repub coffin.
The horrific situation unfolding along the Gulf will dictate the news completely during the repub convention.

17. My best friend called in me in a panic about McCain's "brilliant" choice --
-- after I asked him what he'd been smoking :), I said pretty much the same as you.

With the country faced with so many dire crises, who wants to vote for a ticket that's a combination of a doddering old fool and an airhead?! Not that I underestimate GOP cockroach chicanery, but as Obama said about the Repubs:

"NOT THIS TIME."

18. Seriously. It was amazing. It motivated me to get off my 'a' and get to work.
I've had a tough summer, but you know what, it's time to get beyond it, and get to work for Obama/Biden.
