North Carolina will be Won by the Indie Vote...Democrats have MAJOR Registration Advantage
http://www.sboe.state.nc.us/Default.aspx?s=0">North Carolina State Board of Elections

Looking at the voter registration numbers as of 08/30/2008...it appears as if we Democrats have a 744,051 advantage over the Rethugs.

Democrats: 2,684,301
Republicans: 1,940,250
Libertarian: 844
INDEPEDENTS (unaffiliated): 1,297,863

For Obama to win NC (which I think is very possible), he's going to need HIGH turnout from Dems and a good number of Indies on his side.

2. I think we need to remember
that some of the dem registrees were repubs messin' with our primary. So it's going to be hard to tell how many are really on our side.

4. I don't think a HUGE number actually did that
And people are lazy anyway, many don't want to register for one party, then go back to another later.

8. There's no need to register as a Dem in NC to screw with the primaries.
Indies can vote in either. I think the representation in the o.p. is probably pretty accurate. There have been major registration efforts, by the Obama campaign, in the state.

15. That's reassuring to know about NC
The way it's set up here in Illinois, whichever primary you vote in you become affiliated with in the state election records.

16. It's weird how every state is set up so differently. I only found out this
year about my own home state. The Obama ground team has been very effective here in NC.

12. hillary would have won NC
if that was the case. limbaugh's "Operation Chaos" wasn't effective in winning the State for hillary.

7. That's a stereotype...I doubt they're all like that
Even still though, a small Indy lead for Obama...along with HIGH Dem turnout could be enough to put him over the top.

13. I hope they all aren't like that.
I did not mean to offend, but I did have arguments with 4 men at the county fair who identified themselves as indies who were afraid that John Kerry would divest them of their weaponry. I met some fine, tough Dems in NC. We were just far outnumbered in Catawba Co.

9. I'm one of those independents...
...who will be voting for Obama.
Unfortunately my parents, my brother, and his wife will all vote McCain.

10. Barr is tracking up
pollster has him at 3%

My Republican brother in N.C. is considering Barr.

If Obama can take N.C. anything is possible.

11. I'm in NC
and the dems will be coming out. The Black and youth vote is going to be outrageous down here.

Remember, NC has alot of colleges and universities and a sizable Black population.

The city where I live (Greensboro) has seven universities and colleges, with two of them being HBCU's.

North Carolina is doable and will be competitive! YES WE CAN!!!!!!
