3. I support them being protected as an endangered species, BUT...

...polar bears aren't those cute fluffy stuffed things you buy at toy stores. They're 500-1000-pound killing machines. Their propensity to scavenge brings them into close contact with humans at times. While they're not overly aggressive when well-fed, they are unpredictable when hungry (as are most predators).

THAT'S why people sometimes want to kill polar bears.

hunting their own food, raising their young, etc. The endangered species act would protect them to be able to do so. Of course if they get too close to humans they have to be discouraged (hopefully non violently at first). Most of us do know that they are not cuddle bears - they are very dangerous animals.

I guess I'm agreeing with you. ;) I just think that non violent methods are the best route to try first, unless it is an attack situation.

If we left them along and didn't destroy their habitat they wouldn't bother any of us....BY the way unless they are protecting a cub or are attacked they NEVER go after humans...it is not their instinct....Killing machines they are BUT for their own survival.

animals.... environment. but what they fail to realize is that they are ruining not only the homes of the animals. they are not only killing off species with reckless abandon. they are destroying OUR home. and us in the process. I just don't understand how folks who claim to follow the bible, and believe that god created the earth and all of it's creatures could destroy everything that this god created. Wouldn't it be their job to protect the earth and all the animals on it, too? It shows a hypocrisy that I don't understand why more people are not calling them on.
