I Think the question is WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS LADY?
Let's put the whole "It might be the daughter's baby" on the side.

For a pregant women to fly after her water has broken is SO risky it is a HUGE wrong decision. This "pro-life" mother could have easily killed or hurt both herself and this child by making such a stupid mistake.

Maybe we should layoff the photo of the teen with the beer gut and focus on the NUT Mother who is so self-absorbed.

1. In my own personal experience
my water breaking gave me a baby 16 minutes later. There is something totally wrong about her story, and as you said, the risk to herself and her child is a stupid, stupid mistake.

4. Our first kid came about 5 hours
after water breaking. The second was about 3 hours later.

7. well...
I might be the exception, but my total labor from start to baby was one hour 16 minutes....no way would I stop and think I could get on a plane and have time to fly home. Her story is bullshit.

11. You are _totally_ the exception. :^) Took me about 7 hours per kid but
I was induced. From water breaking to first baby it was about 3 hours. For the other one my water was broken for me, but when I finally was allowed to start pushing it was all of 15 minutes. I bruised his poor face I got him out so fast. LOL (The other one I didn't have to push much. He gave me a 4th degree tear and pretty much fell out.)

5. Someone posted yesterday that it was only a minor leak and her doc okayed her
to fly home.

It does happen, but if it had been me the flying part would make me nervous anyway.

10. Yes, you can get minor leaks where the fluid does not all leave at once. I did
not have it happen to me but I know someone who did.

16. I was always a bit disappointed that I had to be induced and missed out on the
excitement of not knowing when the babies would come. :( No sit com drives to the hospital... none of that. *bummed*

17. Ours was funny
The first time the water broke she was pissed because I had just cooked up a bunch of BBQ ribs and she wanted to eat. So I wrapped a bunch in aluminum foil and she ate them in the car. She had BBQ sauce all over the place when we got to emergency.

The second was induced. It was weird to have an appointment to go have your baby. I know what you mean.

21. with my 1:16 baby
we had that....I didn't know till after, but we sped down the freeway at 125MPH. We got to the emergency room, they took me straight to L&D, my water broke, I got on the table asked for drugs, the nurses and midwife laughed their asses off at me and said push.

22. LOL I didn't do drugs with the second one. I was of course regretful of the
fact by the time I hit transition. Worse, I had a labor nurse who couldn't find my cervix to check for dilation and she missed the transition signs. (I did too but I wasn't thinking really clearly at that point.) I waited a pretty long time before pushing and finally I had enough and said I AM gonna push!

She freaked and said No and sent someone to find a doctor. Mine was still in another town and wouldn't be there for at least an hour. Luckily there was an OB in the library and he came in and baby came out. Cool thing is he was the same doc who delivered my lil bro a couple of decades ago. :D

24. My wife did no drugs for either kid
First one was 8/15 and the second was 9/11. I asked for them for me but they wouldn't do it.

The second one was bigger and she really hollered. God love her. If men had babies the planet would be uninhabited.

25. Heheh. It would be uninhabited now except for the fortunate way
the memory of the pain fades enough for us to consider having another one. :P

23. That, frankly, is the preferable scenario, IMO.
It says a lot about her actions that a massive cover-up and abuse of power to make that happen is actually the best-case scenario.

As I just wrote in another OP, this is the only major crisis that we know she's dealt with. If the story is as she has reported it, I'd have to describe her response as a FAIL.

19. Mine didn't for 24 hours, for both kids.
She was a governor, and I'm sure had a doctor following her. My niece has had two home births, one was three days long and her water broke 24 hours before she delivered.

2. She couldn't stand for here baby to be born in Texas
Do Alaskans hate Texas that much? So much that she would risk complications from a high risk pregnancy to spend 12 to 20 hours to fly home and give birth on home soil. She sounds insane to me.

8. See, this is stupid speculation.
I hate to add to the conversation, but I heard an (unverified) reasonable explanation:

Her water didn't break, she was leaking fluid...slowly. She knew it was a high-risk pregnancy and spoke to her OB. They decided that labor wasn't likely to happen immediately and it would be better to fly home and use her regular OB, who was familiar with her medical history.

Regardless, who the fuck cares?
