Won't someone think of the polar bears????
It's Sarah Palin (RW gun-toting, tongue-speaking fanatic) versus the few remaining polar bears left on the planet.

I really think we're missing the boat with the focus and fascination of Wooten-gate.

I think Palin's bizarre and scary stance on polar bears, on actually being enfuriated enough to file a LAWSUIT to keep polar bears from the endangered species list -- as well as Palin having a stance actually in conflict with the Bush Administration of all things, is where we should focus some of our attention.

I'd love to see some creativity on here -- some Youtube videos and posters showing this whackjob pitted against images of polar bears.

Andrew Sullivan's take:

Palin vs Polar Bears

Sarah Palin and Hugh Hewitt are both enraged at the decision to list polar bears as an endangered species. I've followed Hewitt's bizarre Colbertian horror at protecting polar bears the way I usually follow him, with morbid amusement and fascination. Here's a classic column from May. Palin's opposition to protecting the species brought her into conflict with the Bush administration's Interior secretary:

Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne last week made the listing decision and said it was based on three findings. "First, sea ice is vital to polar bear survival. Second, the polar bear's sea-ice habitat has dramatically melted in recent decades. Third, computer models suggest sea ice is likely to further recede in the future," he said...

Polar bear researchers fear recent effects of the loss of sea ice on Alaska polar bear populations. A 2006 study by the U.S. Geological Survey concluded that far fewer polar bear cubs in the Beaufort Sea were surviving and that adult males weighed less and had smaller skulls than those captured and measured two decades previously -- trends similar to observations in Canada's western Hudson Bay before a population drop.
A U.S. Geological Survey study completed last year as part of the petition process predicted polar bears in Alaska could be wiped out by 2050.

Kempthorne said last week he considered every point Palin made, and rejected them. However, he sought to limit the economic effect of the decision with the inclusion of "administrative guidance" that said the listing would not be used to create back-door climate policy outside the normal system of political accountability. He said that the threat to polar bears did not come from the petroleum industry.

This could be done with comedy, but actually, this is no laughing matter. No laughing matter at all:

Soon it could be the last remaining polar bear:

2. If she has no qualms about shooting a moose in the face, then
I guess there's no problem shooting a polar bear in the face or an old man or facilitating all their deaths. That's the party of "life" after all.
:scared:

9. The conversation is about the US endangered species list.

There are polar bears off the shores of Alaska and on the tundra.

13. Here's one shot near Fort Yukon...dare I ask if that makes you
"happy"? That I've posted a pic of a bear shot and the pic is not from Norway...? I honestly can't figure out where you're coming from. Polar bears are obviously threatened by global warming. And from poachers. That's the conversation. We need to protect these bears. That's the conversation. You're the only one brining Norway into the conversation - and because I quickly chose one image from Google images over another.

Sarah Palin does not believe that the bears are threatened, and she filed a lawsuit because she's so furious that anyone wants to protect these bears. Likely Sarah doesn't want to protect the bears, because she is a very outspoken global-warming denier. And she likes to shoot animals.

17. it's a thin line between the indiscriminate shooting of animals and human beings.
I understand hunting. And protecting ones property and livestock.

But having no concern for wildlife. Slaughtering wolves from an airplane.
