Has a Repub convention ever been converged on by demonstrators
to the degree we are going to see soon? I ask because I don't remember ever witnessing such a phenomenon.

1. I Don't Know, But I Am Old Enough To Remember
How antiwar demonstrators at the Democratic Chicago Convention in 1968 were instrumental in the election that fall of Tricky Dick Nixon.

2. But it apparently has not happened to the Repubs before.
THAT is significant.

6. They werent demonstrating, they were herded from a nearby park and beaten
nearly to death by the cops in front of the cameras in an attempt to to create a fake riot...
My asshole Reich wing father was so disturbed by the hellatious savagery of the police attack he later offered to send me to Canada if i was drafted. he was visibally shaken by the event.. one situation where a young woman was held in a choak hold from behind with a baton while two other cops repetedlly beat her face in swing as hard as they could...she was a bloody pulp.

3. Love your banner Saywhat
I copied this banner from another poster (Rinkydink?) and put it in my front door window.

To speak to your question, I've never seen protests like this before at an RNC convention, either, and I've heard enough about them -- for the past 60+ years.

I'm wondering if they'll do anything more than let the long-suffering New Yorkers let off steam.

7. Thanks
Thanks Saywhat.

I read your two links Rowdyboy. Aside from the gop site's description, it sounds like it wasn't as bad as it could have been if the convention had been held in San Diego.

I live in Mormon country -- Utah -- and took special notice of Agent Christensen being retired to Utah! Hoped it was way south of here! He sounds like something out of John LeCarre without the polish.

We're not Mormons, definitely in the minority up here in northern Cache Valley, but I remember a Mormon missionary telling me once -- this was years ago -- that the FBI recruits heavily among Mormons because they're good at following orders. I mean, he meant that seriously, that this was a good thing, and I guess it is.

We also seem to have a lot of crackpot shoot-em-up types, too. Also (so far!) mostly down south.

4. The 1972 Republican convention in Miami was pretty bad...
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 06:26 PM by Rowdyboy
Anti-war veterans were prominant, hundreds of thousands of anti-war demonstrators protested and riots developed (aided considerably by Republican infiltrators). Research "The Gainesville Eight" for more info on the trials that came from the convention.

The only really descriptive link I've found is way right-wing, but I'll lpass it on anyway. Its a laugh.
