Presidential Prayer Team: "Pray for him as he prepares for the convention"
http://www.presidentialprayerteam.org/

"As the President leaves his Crawford, Texas home today and continues to travel the country visiting New Mexico, Florida, Ohio, West Virginia and Tennessee, pray for safety and strength, particularly as he heads to New York City for the Republican National Convention. Pray for him as he prepares for the convention, particularly for the speech he will deliver outlining his platform for the November election.

Pray for the Republican National Convention as it begins on Monday. Pray for the safety and protection of delegates, candidates and the media, and for God to be honored in every part of the event.

Pray for the President as he continues to work with the members of his team to strengthen security in America and to fight the war on terror. Pray for efforts to re-vamp the intelligence-gathering community as well as strategies to build freedom and democracy around the world.

Pray for the President and the Department of Defense as they work to strengthen America's military and military families through improving benefits, reducing relocation moves and strengthening educational benefits. Give thanks for the many brave troops who serve our nation faithfully."

6. You have the right site...
Sometimes these things get posted on DU just for the sheer stupidity / irony / gall of the original story.

Rest assured, no one here will ask you to pray for Bush as he heads to the convention.

12. OK a sense fo humor.
Sorry to say I lost that way back when I lost my good union job at the Ford Plant back under Bush 1. But if we can get the dammed Bushies out of the white house I may even make a deal with God to go back to church. I will owe him one.

13. OHswingvoter, WELCOME to DU, and...
...you will find many people here who share your goal. Sometimes the posts are delivered with humor and / or sarcasm, other times straight and unfiltered...but I think I speak for everyone here when I say that we are looking forward to sending Bush off to a permanent Crawford Ranch vacation in November.

7. If Kerry is president will they pray for him?
And will they do it in an honest, non-backhanded way? Or will they "pray" for John Kerry with duplicitious lines like "Oh, we pray that he will change his position on abortion", or "Oh, we pray that he will oppose stem cell research"?

If John Kerry becomes president I expect these people to not only pray for him, but to support him, his policies, his agenda and vision for the country. I will demand that they also pray for the full enactment of the Kerry legislative program.

We WILL get the conservative white people on our side DAMNIT!

14. Actually...the Bible says.
Pray for all our leaders for they are apointed by God. As a Christian that is my biggest beef witht he fundies. They make democrats out as the evil enemy with one side of the mout and rely on Inerrancy on the other.

They are truly a bunch of Pharisees.

15. I'm guessing the site gets shut down at midnight on Inauguration Day.
...unless they want to keep praying for the unemployed Bush and change the name to the "Ex-Presidential Prayer Team" Web Site.

20. I think so, too.
My Mother in law is a member of the Presidential Prayer Team, and she's always giving us their propoganda. Non-partisan, my ass.

This is just a project to blur, or even eliminate, the separation between church and state. If we ever had a Jewish or god-forbid atheist president, these people's heads would eplode.

18. The media turned up the heat today...
...stories floating about regarding the critical need for him to float a "new agenda" to the base, since they're losing confidence.

Check out this other DU thread for more on that subject and a few reasons why he NEEDS every friggin' prayer he can get. That, coupled with TV appearances by Merrie "Swift Boat" Spaeth and Karl Rove, sow that things are not going all that well for the Connecticut Cowboy:

19. DU Prayer, Karma, Spell, What-Have-You Circle
(Your Chosen spiritual Divinity or Advisor Here)

(Your chosen spiritual offering of goodness) us as the evil ones congregate to plot further evil upon the humble beings of the earth.

May you join us as we rise to bring our nation back to sanity, justice, and benevolence. May we then continue to offer the same to our sisters and brothers worldwide.

And one more thing: plese, please, help John Kerry displace the Kennebunkport Kowboy. Pretty please...pleeeeaaaaase...

(Your chosen spiritual closing)

In my case:

Amen

Remember how he was asking for those who were in active combat to pray for him? It's all about him.

24. Remember: avoid the word "smite"
the Secret Service doesn't like prayers about smiting and George W. Bush.
