The Dems have proven that Bush is behind the ads. They have proven the connections. They have proven the ads were nothing but a for-profit smear campaign produced by experienced smear artists. The Swift Boat Vets themselves have been caught in lie after lie. The smear has back-fired.
Denouncing the ads is not good enough anymore. Bush needs to APOLOGIZE to Kerry and ALL combat veterans for questioning how they got their medals and RIBBONS.

4. If Wesley Clark had been the Vice Presidential nominee

there would have been a "Army Mechanized Unit for Truth" fraudulency as well. Wesley Clark won the Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, and Purple Heart in Vietnam. He was shot in four parts of his body and spent many months in a hospital recovering the ability to walk and shake hands. Anyone want to bet that if Clark had either been the Presidential candidate of the Democratic Party or the VP candidate, he would have been thoroughly smeared as well? In fact, it would have been hilarious to see two different 527 smear groups going after both Kerry and Clark at the same time, if he had been chosen as the VP candidate. Already on several blogs I saw stories questioning how Clark received his wounds in Vietnam, posted by right wing whackos. They were saying in essence that Clark had been negligent and had allowed his unit to be surrounded and that his wounds were the result of his ineptitude, not his courage. That was back in January.

It's clear to me that propanganda was being prepared against Clark by the Republican Party at the same time that it was being collected against Kerry. Many of the smearboaters may perhaps not be connected to the Republican hierarchy. But then they are along for the ride, not really adding to the debate, as they witnessed nothing. They merely hate Kerry for his politics. My belief is that the smears were being prepped quite some time ago and that this has been coordinated with the help of Karl Rove and other Republican insiders. Of course puppet Bush is not going to defy the ones pulling his strings by apologizing.
