like those in this picture of the single browed future president?
didnt' a soldier kill himself about 5 years ago for being discovered to be wearing medals he had not earned? isn't this considered absolutely treasonous? and THEN to attack the medals and honor of a man who actually earned them. fucking nazis are bold.

1. I think it's worse to publicize pics of him in uniform---most people now
think he didn't show up AT ALL to the national guard...!

2. Don't know about criminal, but it's disgusting.
There might be something in the UCMJ about this. Soldiers, the good ones, don't wear ribbons/medals they haven't earned. It cheapens the awards and makes then look like phonies, which * is anyway. Service members and vets both hate this. Watch Kerry's 18% down vet approval turn 25% up if this has legs.

5. I'm an ex
flight attendant and we used to give those plastic wings away to kids on the plane. Mystery solved.

I also don't think posting ANY pics of Dub in uniform is a good idea, unless and until the medal fraud is PROVEN. I'm listening to Wolfie's show and the new talking point seems to be that Kerry and Bushie are BOTH veterans.......

10. I don't believe National Guardsmen are considered Veterans and
are not eligible for Veteran benefits. Especially from that era.

6. When I was in the Marine Corps, this was NOT tolerated

I remember a stupid young Marine with way too many ribbons on his chest checking in @ the company office. It only took about 1 day for him to be busted in rank and fined for his foolishness. On top of the official punishment, he was treated like shit by virtually all Marines that knew him for what he did.

12. Did not a former Chief of Naval Operations commit suicide because a
magazine was about to allege he was not authorized to wear one of the probably dozens of medals he wore? In this case, it would surely have been inadvertent, an honest misunderstanding, yet this most honorable, courageous, and heroic man tragically must have felt suicide was the only honorable way he could deal with the issue.

13. It's not right, but it's not rare to find one wearing medals they didn't
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 01:52 PM by Kimber Scott
earn. You buy your ribbons at the base uniform shop. You can buy any ribbon you want. It's pretty silly for people to wear ribbons they didn't earn, especially minor ones, because honestly, nobody - on active duty - really cares (on edit: I should say "is impressed by" )about your ribbons and medals. (Except the promotion board and personell, maybe.) Some guys just can't stand to walk around bare chested, though. Makes them feel less manly, I guess.

But, far from being silly, it's pretty stupid to have your picture taken, especially an official one, wearing ribbons you didn't earn. What's weird, though, is people who lie about their awards, i.e. wear ribbons they didn't earn, will usually wear a whole rack of them. Not just add ONE ribbon. Maybe, he thought he looked better with two.
