SC GOP invokes McCain as POW in ad

The South Carolina GOP will air an ad at in the Twin Cities during the Republican convention trying to divert attention from Democratic attacks about McCain's multiple homes by airing footage of him in the Hanoi Hilton.

South Carolina GOP executive director Jay Ragley said they had not cleared the ad with McCain's campaign.

In an email to Republicans with a link to the ad, South Carolina GOP chair Katon Dawson said Democrats wanted to "smear" McCain.

going for him. feel sorry for me -- i was a POW -- therefore i deserve to be president.
