Now they're questioning Kerry's DD214 and IRR Service
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 12:02 PM by rmpalmer
From RW Chicago Sun.

<snip>

But the official records on Kerry's Web site only add to the confusion. The DD214 form, an official Defense Department document summarizing Kerry's military career posted on johnkerry.com, includes a "Silver Star with combat V."

But according to a U.S. Navy spokesman, "Kerry's record is incorrect. The Navy has never issued a 'combat V' to anyone for a Silver Star."

<snip>

What could that more than 100 pages contain? Questions have been raised about President Bush's drill attendance in the reserves, but Bush received his honorable discharge on schedule. Kerry, who should have been discharged from the Navy about the same time -- July 1, 1972 -- wasn't given the discharge he has on his campaign Web site until July 13, 1978. What delayed the discharge for six years? This raises serious questions about Kerry's performance while in the reserves that are far more potentially damaging than those raised against Bush.

Experts point out that even the official military records get screwed up. Milavic is trying to get mistakes in his own DD214 file corrected. In his opinion, "these entries are not prima facie evidence of lying or unethical behavior on the part of Kerry or anyone else with screwed-up DD214s."

1. Okay, naysayers on Walt's investigation...
it is time to put the screws to this hoodlum. You KNEW they would stoop to more lies about inconsequential matters.

Yeah, it is KERRY's fault that his discharge is wrong. He's a serial liar. WTF?

2. It's Called The Inactive Reserves
I had a six year commitment.

Four years on active duty and 2 years in the inactive reserve.

Inactive reserve duty does not require any drills. You are merely on a list of people that can be called for duty if the Government needs you.

This is not unusual.

9. Just FYI - not that it matters - but you get discharged and receive your
DD214 when you are assigned to the inactive reserves.

14. So that may be why Kerry got it 6 years later
What the media whores need to do is get some military experts on military paperwork!

It's great that we have DU'ers here who are in the know.

3. Suntimes ...
enough said. Novak also questioned Kerry's first purple heart in the same paper today. He is, once again, lying.

They can continue with the crap but it is starting to backfire. The polls released in the last few days reflect this smear before Kerry started to fight back.

Do they really want to question Kerry's guard service in light of what Bush did?

They will keep throwing crap till election day. I think people are getting sick of it myself. Two women in my office told me today they are going to vote for Kerry because they are just so pissed at this type of campaign.

New Witness: Kerry Was Present at Dark Plot Meeting: Group Debated and Voted Down Plan To Assassinate Senators

http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com | Another witness has come forward to attest that John Kerry was at a November 1971 meeting of Vietnam Veterans Against the War at which the group debated and voted down a plan to assassinate senators who supported the Vietnam War.

A Kerry campaign spokesman, David Wade, has said Mr. Kerry did not attend the Kansas City meeting, and Kerry biographer Douglas Brinkley has said Mr. Kerry told him he was a "noshow."

I hate that some here want to stick their heads in the ground on what the other side is doing. They are the enemy. This is war.

10. They're picking nits here.
The nonexistent combat V on his silver star is at worst a clerical error, which in the days of "bang-em-hard" Royal typewriters were fairly common. It doesn't take anything away from the document in this case.

15. Exactly. The DD-214 is a document typed in haste, as you're
sitting around waiting to get out of the goddam military.

The "combat 'V'" business means exactly nothing. It MIGHT conceivably raise an eyebrow if the DD214 were the only available documentation for the Silver Star. However, we have not only lots of other documentation, but a lot of contemporary witnesses who knew Kerry had gotten it.

This would be sort of like having a clerk misspell your dog's name on some dog license document & someone else using the typo as evidence that you don't actually have a dog.

16. Double double standard
The Sun times can print lies and rumors and get away with it.

You have proof of Bush wearing a ribbon he did not earn and crickets are chirping ...

We have to take back the media. Look what they did to Gore.

that led them to their conclusion that his papers are in order with the rest of the world press.

19. Much ado about an overworked clerk is all this is.
Kerry didn't type his own DD214, sorry it doesn't work that way. Just like they don't grant awards based on just the recipients version of events.

What a load of crap.
