Wrote a LTTE about BCCI and PNAC to two local
papers, got no response from either, no real surprise. However I started going more grassroots with the same message, and am very surprised by two things. Friends on the left have no idea what I am talking about, and think I'm a conspiracy nut. Friends on the right and middle have no idea what I'm talking about, but they want to know more. Even the blinded Bush* followers are stunned by the 'new Pearl Harbor' quote from the PNAC. When they start the 'Kerry never did anything in the Senate' talking point, telling them about Kerry and Brown (R-CO) having a hand in bringing down the most corrupt bank in the world opens a whole new dialog into the ties between BCCI and BFEE. The media won't touch these subjects, so we will have to do it for them. Try it, it's kind of fun to watch the uncomfortable looks on their faces. Just be sure to be respectful when you deflate their heroes, if they think you're enjoying it too much, they have a bad reaction.

1. Kerry was shutting down the terrorists banks while Bush was making deals

with them. Kerry's efforts put Salem Bin Laden under arrest while Bush was making millions selling his Harken shares to him.

WHY were Reagan and Bush administrations working hard for years to block investigations into the funding of terrorism and why were all their financial cronies involved with those same banks?

Why when Kerry was working against the funding of terrorism and the funnelling of terror funds by a dirty bank were Reagan and Bush administrations and their cronies working so hard to stop Kerry's efforts?

So far, NO Republican can answer that question. Why were so many Republicans working AGAINST an investigation into terrorism and its funding then?

3. Here's something else for you to use
as you give them a little recent history lesson.

from October 2001
<snip>
Leslie Gelb, the former New York Times columnist who now runs the Council on Foreign Relations, got it right when he said on PBS after the speech that it was "a declaration of war on Afghanistan and probably Iraq." And Bush's implacability in declaring he'll "make no distinction" between terrorists and the nations harboring them could soon add other countries to the list. When Bush ran for president, he pledged never to send American armed forces abroad in any operation without an "exit strategy." In militarizing the campaign against terrorism, he doesn't have one.

<snip>
And what of Iraq? Jesse Helms told CNN that we should expect an attack on Iraq "right soon." Following this, the administration began leaking that there were no immediate plans to attack Iraq. But the stepped-up bombing of Iraq's southern air defenses in the three days preceding Bush's speech to Congress spoke louder than the latest leaks. Now the Americans and the Brits have renewed and intensified those aerial assaults. Disinformation is a weapon in this new war.

6. Other help...
Frank, are you hip to the movies that MoveOn.org has promoted lately by Robert Greenwald? They will help you in your grassroots cause...

www.outfoxed.org
Uncovered: the Whole Truth About the Iraq War
Unprecedented: the 2000 Presidential Campaign

(Unprecedented was not promoted by MoveOn, but is part of Greenwald's UN series.)

And the one down here in my sig line is absolutely perfect for neocon PNAC enlightenment:

7. WHEN will the Kerry campaign hit on this?
Are they saving it for later?

********

Short talking points for free distribution:

"Bush did business with Bin Laden's bankers while Kerry...was fighting to shut it down to terrorist and drug connections."

"Long before September 11, 2001, George W. Bush got a 25 million dollar loan from the same bankers that dealt with bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, while John Kerry was fighting to stop this bank's global laundering of money for drug lords and terrorists. John Kerry shut it down. He's been fighting terrorism at its roots since before George Bush ran for office."
