Underappreciated moments of the 2008 DNC
I think because of the highly highly flawed MSM coverage of the DNC that a lot of good speeches that might not have been hyped were just ignored or uncovered except for those of us who watched the live feeds without pundit commentary interrupting. So I wanted to highlight some of the people who gave great speeches and weren't given the spotlight they deserved for doing a great job. This includes all nights.

Tammy Duckworth
- Rescued from Black Hawk helicopter (great story)
- Veterans benefits

Senator Tom Harkin
- American Sign Language <-- that in and of itself was awesome.

Retired Rear Admiral John Hutson
- Former lifelong Republican who is now a Registered Democrat

Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr
- Obama is on the mountaintop now

Senator John Kerry
- Candidate McCain vs Senator McCain
- Pointing out Obama's great-uncle, Charlie Paine, in direct response to the smears the RW directed at Obama when he got the name of the camp his great-uncle liberated wrong.
- Reclaiming the American flag for all Americans

Congressman Dennis Kucinich
- Down with war, oil, etc. Up with peace, Democratic party, etc!
- Wake up America! Wake up!

Congressman Patrick Murphy
- Barack Obama is that Commander-in-Chief we need.

Michael Wilson
- Nominating speech for Obama
- Republican for Obama

I thought that these speeches were criminally neglected and the full text of their speeches are available at http://www.demconvention.com/speeches/

3. yes and that dear little lady from N. Carolina
plain, simple, uneducated and so beautiful in her simple message. She spoke yesterday I believe. I did love Wilson's speech, Tammy's speech was so moving and remembering her battle in her state and how the Republicans treated her then.
I missed Kerry's speech but hope to see a repeat on PBS later tonight.
So many golden moments. God I've been loving every minute of all of it.

5. I really liked the short but sweet speeches by the normal people.
The politicians who can kick ass are always welcome but the people who can manage to tell their stories well were great because you don't expect it. But it's too bad that the MSM is basically just devoting all their coverage to just 1 or 2 speeches a night.

9. And besides the speeches, listening to good music and seeing closeups of the
dancing delegates dressed in Dem garb was a C-Span bonus.
