1. best part was first half
I think the whole convention was tearing up. The foreign policy part was less intense however.

3. I admit I had high expectations
When I hear him speak I expect a "7 Houses" line all the time, along with getting pumped up.. I didn't feel that so much, but I think the speech accomplished some objectives:

1) Letting the people know more about Obama will do, and giving the people an intro from a VP candidate's perspective

2) Tearing down some negative McSame ads

6. I thought it was great. I have absolutely no complaints. He said what needed to be said, and he
done it in a very serious, eloquent and passionate way. What more could you ask for?

7. It didn't really speak to me.
But I made this point to someone just now: it didn't need to reach Obama voters. It didn't need to be an Obama type of speech, with Obama eloquence.

It needed to reach older voters and more blue collar dems. And I think it's the type of speech that could speak to those constituencies.

9. I will say the guy on MSNBC is going TOO far
Edited on Wed Aug-27-08 10:25 PM by mvd
I can see what he means about the fire, and maybe some adjusting was needed.. but I think he was often comfortable.

11. Which guy on msnbc?
Their opinion is irrelevant.

Keep in mind the speech wasn't meant for the media elite, the pundits, and the D.C. cocktail circuit, but for blue collar dems and older voters. It was clearly targeted to those groups.

8. On the 1-5 scale... about a 6.5.
Competent, qualified, strong, well-grounded. Hit McSame in all the right places. He was the only good VP pick, and he showed why tonight.

Nothing too fantastic, but I thought he did very well and did what needed to be done.

15. I thought it was a very good speech but
I can't put my finger on it, but Biden didn't seem himself. He didn't look altogether comfortable. I also heard him slurring some words, or eliminating syllables in some words. I wonder if anyone else noticed that. I hope there's nothing to it.
