4. KFF checkin' in!
Yeah, but maybe things had to get just this bad for us to be hungry enough for the kind of change I believe Barack Obama can bring.

And boy did he take a bite out of McCain!!

:woohoo:

10. Oh, I knew there had to be some old KFFers out there!
I was so glad to see our man make us proud! I have to get KFF tee shirt out. My husband wears his all the time.

Tonight I was thinking of my old friends and all we did. Great to hear from you.

As far as getting this bad, I worried that people had forgotten how much we suffered then. Sometimes it seems like people are ready to just give in like it doesn't matter. I think Kerry is a wonderful reminder of that struggle from the last 8 years. I think the fact that he gave a barn burner, helped a lot.

16. I gave Jim Rassmann my shirt
I'll just pretend he has it in his special Kerry 2004 memorabilia box.

It's funny that I still get butterflies in my stomach and he still surpasses my expectations, every single time.

And people still say "where was that John Kerry", even though they've been saying it for 4 years now. Oh well. Maybe some day.

Did you see that they didn't mention him in the Mass roll call? I was so upset by that. I hope it was an accident.

Nice to have a little old home week. :hi:

23. Oh, I remember that you did that!
My red "Real Deal" shirt hung on the wall until january of this year when I finally replaced it with a barack countdown to inauguration calendar. In my dining room I have my letter from THK framed with some bumper stickers.

26. Wow, the Real Deal shirt! That was a giveaway to us primary volunteers in '04, and
I handed mine to a volunteer who hadn't gotten one. I'd been told there were more available, but there weren't and I never got back my original shirt.

Got a better one later though, and also won a Kerry shirt as a prize. I don't wear them; don't want them getting torn or stained.

I got it for being the Kerry speech giver a local event where the local Dem party decided who to endorse.

37. LevensonK, I had to adopt JK as my senator in '05 and '06 because
my state had two Republican senators. Which meant I had no representation in the Senate. So what to do? Adopt my favorite senator for my very own, of course. I called his office a couple of times with a couple of concerns and I explained, or tried to explain, that I was using JK cuz' my state was Democratically challenged, and no way no how was I going to fruitlessly contact either senator from my own state. (Yes, I'm somewhat deranged.)

But now, since the '06 elections, Claire McCaskill is my Senator so I don't have to bother JK any more.

Yes, you are indeed fortunate to have JK as your Senator.

27. I thought sure Bill's speech was going to be the best of the night, but
Kerry's and Biden's are. Kerry's was perfect, but Biden's may appeal more to Everyperson. He's just as fiery as Kerry, too. Loving this night. LOVING it.

35. I thought each speech had its own purpose

Bill Clinton: "why we need a Democrat in the White House again"

Kerry: "why McCain is totally unsuitable for the Presidency in so many ways."

Biden: "how Barack and I have the same values you do."

34. Bill's speech was great, but Kerry's was passionate and heartfelt and laid into McCain's flip flops
Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 12:09 AM by EndElectoral
Loved this part:

"This election is a chance for America to tell the merchants of fear and division: you don't decide who loves this country; you don't decide who is a patriot; you don't decide whose service counts and whose doesn't.

Four years ago I said, and I say it again tonight, that the flag doesn't belong to any ideology. It doesn't belong to any political party. It is an enduring symbol of our nation, and it belongs to all the American people. After all, patriotism is not love of power or some cheap trick to win votes; patriotism is love of country.

Years ago when we protested a war, people would weigh in against us saying, "My country right or wrong." Our answer? Absolutely, my country right or wrong. When right, keep it right. When wrong, make it right. Sometimes loving your country demands you must tell the truth to power."

38. Yeah, he was great.
Sigh. I'm just glad he was there in the middle of it and he got to do what he does best. I just kept thinking about what Kerry and McCain's next meeting will be like. A little on the icy side - ya think?

The speech will probably up the traffic to the piece that Beachmom wrote for Reality Window that still gets google search traffic titled http://www.realitywindow.com/archives/2008/06/burning-bridges-why-kerry-does.html">Burning Bridges: Why Kerry doesn't owe McCain a thing.
