Letter to Kansas City Star supporting Bush
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 09:52 AM by MODemocrat
I'll copy ver batim, you decide what kind of la-la land she/he's in. Just wanted to share this one with you:

"If you would have told me on Sept. 12, 200l, that three years into the future our economy would be booming, interest rates would be still low, unemployment would be at only 5.6 percent, Afghanistan and Iraq would be on the path to democracy, gasoline prices would be less than $4 per gallon, and America would not have seen another direct terror attack, I would have said, You must be dreaming.
That's why I will vote for George W. Bush again."

From: Hannes M. Poetter
Paola (Kansas)

4. I'd like to read a longer, darker book:
"What's The Matter With That Woman?"

Like, wow, I'm so shocked that the world didn't end. Idiot.

3. Ahh Paola
Once circle of Hell in from Olathe.
Johnson county paleocons are embarrassed by Olathans, but terrified of folks from Paola, Louisville, De Soto, and the other Kansas quasi rural communities surrounding it. These are the gypsies that roll in from the hinterlands of eastern and southern Kansas. Geography is the only thing that prevents them from being hillbillies, because only cows (and the occaissonal camel) live on the flint hills of Kansas.

Fortunately, KCK to the north is mostly poor Democrats, folks who are so desparate for a little employment that they have turned west county into a giant bordello of retro Americana.

Paola is an ugly town, barely distinguisable from a feed lot with convienience stores. Except for the gas station on US 169, few people go there willingly, even some residents.

This guy had only one thing right, the $4/gal gasoline. Bush has raped the economy so badly that it is on its way, as the dollar falls against the Euro and more gas is bought in Yuan. When the dollar stops being the defacto oil trading currency, I think $4/gal is an easy mark to hit. I suspect the real target price will be more like 4.49/gal as the 2005 target price, based on increasing demand-falling dollar-and Hubbel's peak.

While it all happens, little towns like Paola drift down, and to the right.

9. How sad
And ironic! As they sort of go on a backward evolutionary track, they conspire to prevent the teaching of evolution in schools.

I feel sorry for anyone who would actually believe that stuff.

7. I SAW THAT, TOO
Have you ever been to Paola? Two streets and a grocery store. And a whole bunch of rednecks.

But people here think like that. Clinton had people murdered in Arkansas - that kind of thing.

Some days I just want to climb in the bottom of the closet and pull blankets over my head.

But I have started seeing Kerry posters in my neighborhood - and that cheered me up.

8. I've never been to Paola Kansas
According to my birth certificate, my Mother was born there, but that was very long ago. It's strange how people base their opinions, and it sounded like the infamous "talking points" put out by all the right wingers. Bush's lies in getting us into the war, and letting the 9-11 happen mean zilch to those kind.

10. The lack of imagination is stunning
Hannes Poetter could be locked in a shithouse and would smile and say - well the smell could be worse!

Hannes Poetter can say anything he/she/it wants, but Poetter cannot hide from the facts.

We are bleeding into endless debt. We are in a quagmire in Iraq. The poor have gotten poorer and many have lost health insurance. And the tax code has been fixed to shift more of the burden onto the middle class in order to funnel yet more money into the hands of the rich.

Hey Hannes Poetter - you are an unimaginative, blinders-wearing, brainwashed nitwit.

12. Please don't call Paola Kansas City!!
I live in Kansas City, Mo, Kansas is a whole different world. I have been surprised by the numerous for Kerry/Anti-Bush bumper stickers that I am seeing in KCMO. Three of my favorites that I saw today are: "I am tired of this Bushit", and another that had "Mission Accomplished", only the mission was crossed out in red and had the word "Nothing" written in Bold red, and my favorite that is perfect for Paola is "Bush/Cheney '04 Millionaires and Hicks unite"
