So, Mrs. IconCat and I have been invited to a Kerry house party.
A new acquaintance of ours wants us to come to her Kerry house party. I've never been to one, so I'm curious about the whole reality of it. What exactly goes on at those things? What should I bring? Does it end in a drunken mess, or is it quite sober?

Any long, rambling DU anecdotes are welcomed.

1. I had an unofficial Kerry fundraiser at my house in May, and I bought
enough booze to make it a drunken mess, in fact I had had high hopes of doing so.

But most everybody who showed up wanted to talk politics. Discussions blazed on all night. And these were party people.

I would not expect a drunken mess.

Sorry.

I'll invite you to my next party, though, so you can maybe get your drunken mess.

2. I actually don't want a drunken mess!
I really prefer to keep my drunken messes and my lame attempts a activism separate.

4. Somehow, I doubt that one.
Besides, I'm not much of a swinger. All the velvet and smoking sort of puts me off. Even when my band toured, I was always the lone monogamist.

5. "the lone monogamist."
Is that a stringed instrument?
