Protestors already being arrested in NYC
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 09:14 AM by kentuck
5 arrested this morning. One for assaulting a police officer. Others dispute the charge. Is this sending an early message? Don't mess with Texas? What is the message?

(edit: heard on FOX TV this AM)

1. 7th Avenue is looking like a gulag already
I walked into the office this morning from Penn Station.
7th avenue is being lined with Jersey barriers mounted with steel grate fences. These things are 5 to 6 feet tall.
A sense of oppression and control is being made already.
I'm sure pictures will be posted on the indy websites soon.

3. The only "assault" I have heard of was
a cop who was dealing with the banner hangers at the Plaza Hotel yesterday fell through a skylight so they are charging the banner hangers with assault.

Earlier, at 9 a.m., a group of four anti-Bush demonstrators calling themselves "Operation Sibyl" climbed onto the roof of The Plaza hotel and unfurled a giant sign that said "Truth" and "Bush" written on arrows pointing in opposite directions.

"I was out here drinking my coffee and I saw a guy plop out the window," said David Davis, 41, a Seattle banker in town with his daughter. "People were cheering. . . . People are definitely noticing, so I guess it's working."

All four protesters were arrested and charged with first-degree assault.
