Hillary just released her delegates
DENVER - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton released her remaining convention delegates on Wednesday as Democrats were poised to formally deliver the party's presidential nomination to Barack Obama, making him the first black nominee of a major party.

As many in the room yelled, "No," Clinton said that, while she was releasing the delegates she had won in the primaries, "I am not telling you what to do. You've come here from so many different places having made this journey and feeling in your heart what is right for you to do."

1. "As many in the room yelled, "No,"
Good for Hillary, but her supporters really do need to move on.

9. The vast majority
will IMHO. Obama had a strong following as well, and I'm certain some of his supporters would have had a difficult time if the shoe were on the other foot.

3. Go Hilllary
So much for the meme pushed on us that the party is split.

In other news Sean Hannity was found wondering around saying,
"No no no ... this can't be."

4. Good for Hillary, but look who's talking shit as usual....
Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, who had been a Clinton supporter, suggested in an interview with The Associated Press that some delegates would vote for Clinton no matter what she said, and that any motion to move to an unanimous convention ballot would draw "a few no's."

God, just shut the fuck up, you flaming pissbag!! :grr:

11. Eddie was the only Democrat saying Gore should concede during the recounts.
Looking back, maybe he wanted to clear the path for Hillary Clinton.

13. Let's not get back into the conspiracy theories.
If he was trying to help Hillary then she would have run in 2004 instead of 2008. Rendell sabotaging the 2000 election wouldn't have helped with this election in any way.

8. If some people DO yell, "no," would that keep the roll-call going?

10. It'll go on until...
...Ms. Clinton moves to nominate Mr. Obama by...um...is it "acclamation"? I think that's the word. I'm not really up on parliamentary procedure.

12. Not sure this matters much but
I can see this two ways.

(a) Let Hillary supporters express their support. Let the roll call go on and let there be a true measure of support. Then have Hillary move to nominate by acclimation. That would be both cathartic for some and unifying for others. It wouldn't do anything in particular for Hillary. She KNOWS the depth of feeling that her supporters have for her. There is a pretty unbreakable bond between her and us. She is our champion. But she already knows that. But it might be good for some.

(b) Put on a greater show of unity for the viewing public by cutting the roll call short or not having it at all. Might look good to the viewing public, but wouldn't have that cathartic effect for the inside the hall folks.

Who knows which is better? I think both have their advantages. If we want to put Barack more front and center then probably (b) is the better option. But if we want to put the party as a whole on display with all its diversity and different sources of inspiration and ideas, then there's nothing wrong with (a). It shows that the party isn't just about Obama, while acknowledging that he is the top of the ticket.
