First you win, then you play the game.
DU is a most wonderful place. We each come here for our own reasons-to cheer, to whine, to commiserate, to plan. Whatever reason it is, for you that is the very best reason there is. The most important result from being here must be created by you, the visitor, the player, and the result that you create has to be action.
How does it happen that a fifty pound dog can attack, overcome, and hold captive an armed, aggressive fighting man. One answer-all out attack. Every thing that happens, up, down, happy, angry, sad tired, beaten, victorious, everything has to be turned into action-an aggressive attack.

Let me tell you a little about the battles we are facing. The folks we are facing, whether misled or actively venomous, have a few characteristics in common in order to fit into the neo-con (some say fascist) mindset of the monster that has overtaken, consumed, and now sits like a bloated, vile attack hydra atop the pile of former moderate conservative, maybe even compassionate republican bones. That is not your father's republican party.

First, the lies. No matter what they say, you can depend on it-it's a lie. Think about W--no matter what they support, whatever they do, whatever the cover story, if you dig deeply enough you will find false to fact--always.
Next, they fight dirty. Again, always, always they will cheat. Doesn't matter if it would be an easy victory, at the heart of them you will find larceny, lies, and cheating. They may be stupid, ignorant, double-dealing simpletons-whatever invective you wish to heap on them- but they are enormously clever, they always win, and they have no conscience or ethics whatsoever. Expect no sympathy; expect vicious, pathological extremism. We must also expect all the words we find so dear, pretty and comforting, such as tolerant, liberal, generous, caring, peace loving turned into nasty, ugly slurs, sometimes so twisted as to have us doubting ourselves. Even if they talk sweetly, we must recognize it as bait for another deadly trap.

What can we do to combat the sort of creature that will squeal and scream about how awful they are being treated, all the while doing themselves (and much worse) exactly what they are accusing us of?
Tell the truth-always. Attack, don't wait 'til they do something. The only reason you may still be standing is as a pawn to be used in a bigger fight.
You will always lose unless everything you do leads to more action. Log into DU to get a little salve for you wounds? Write one more letter to CNN.
Going for your evening walk? Promise yourself to drop off two letters to the editor for tomorrows mail. Need a quiet cup of tea? Make one phone call to that wavering friend. Remember the creed of the fundies-you really are saving them from a fate worse than death. Are you sad? Attack. Are you angry? Attack. Tired, grumpy, happy, dismayed? Turn everything about you into reason to attack with the truth on your side.
Bad polling numbers got you down? Don't bitch; attack ten times.
We can win through. It won't be easy; you won't get much rest. We must be always on guard. The future of the world rests in your hands, and yours alone. If you fall in the fight, someone else will step into the breech. If you give up, get discouraged and quit, nobody else can cover for you. Stay strong but be ethical. We will win. We can't fail; countless future generations depend on us!

best.

2. You are right
and I nominated this post. The neocon/facists are playing out of a book written by an Austrian in the early part of the last century. I still remember reading about the importance of lying to him. When I get discouraged about what is happening now, I just remember what happened to that fellow in a bunker in Berlin in 1945. Truth shall prevail.

6. Do unto others...
Sometimes truth seems hollow, but wording it can make it real.
