It Really STINKS To Be Living In a "BLUE STATE"
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 01:40 AM by The Nation
1. After the primaries, the candidates almost NEVER come through your state/town unless its for some expensive fundraiser that you will NEVER be able to afford to go to.

2. Once the campaign starts, it gets even worse, they practically never ever ever visit your state for ANYTHING.

3. You don't even have a state HQ to go to get free stuff like rally signs and bumper stickers. (*cough* ILLINOIS *cough*)

Damn you swing state DUers! Damn you to blazes! We people in Chicago might see Kerry or Edwards ONE more time before the election. :(

1. Hey, try living in San Francisco
Chicago is a battleground in comparison. I do a double-take when I see a Bush-Cheney sticker here, and I wonder what would posess someone of that mindset to live in a place so hostile to their worldview, and which embodies all they see as "sinful".

2. HA! try living in a solid red state!
During the Primaries, we don't get that much.

Once the campaign starts, I'm stuck with Bush in my state at some stupid ranch and I never see the person I'm about to vote for.

State HQ? What's that???

I do agree with "Damn you swing state DUers!" I feel that way all the time. I also hate Iowa and New Hampshire during the primaries just because they're so damn spoiled. How DARE any of you stay "undecided" 'till the last freakin' minute! GRRRRR

3. At least you're not somewhere they've 'given up' on.
Sometimes it gets hard to overcome the discouragement that comes from knowing the national campaign has written you off.

4. Gotta wait 'til mid October to catch R.E.M.

Totally unfair.

On the plus side, I see more and more Kerry Bumperstickers every day. If I felt I was surrounded by an excessive number of the kind of morons who would vote for Bush, it might be hard for me to leave the house.

5. Try living in Hawaii
where you can t even drive to a nearby state.

Dennis K came during the primaries.

Shrub breezed through for a couple a hours to raise money.

6. At least in the blue states, we avoid the nasty commercials!
Although I do get Quad City stations if I want to see the blather they are showing to the people in Iowa.

13. How I envy that! AZ is considered a swing this year, and I can't
watch TV hardly at all anymore.

8. I like living in Texas
I get an almost perverse pleasure in being a LIBERAL in this state full of rednecks assholes.

My Veteran for Kerry bumpersticker seems to go over well...

9. Swing States Aren't All They're Cracked Up To Be, Either
I live in Michigan. And yes, we've gotten Kerry/Edwards and Bush/Cheney coming through several times. But we also get hit with a relentless storm of campaign ads. The intensity of the election is much stronger, so you're walking a political minefield. Political beliefs are ripping families and friendships apart in a way that wouldn't happen if our state was Solid Blue or Solid Red.

It's nice to be able to get bumper stickers and signs (although our local office is short on that stuff right now) and it's nice when John Edwards or John Kerry are going to be somewhere close enough to drive to. But there is a cost.

10. Try living in Indiana
It is so solidly red that Bush knows he doesn't even have to campaign here. So I don't get the chance to protest him.

Democrats don't even try for Indiana. I doubt I will see 10 Kerry commercials all election season.

11. Minnesota
I was so proud to be from the one state that Reagan did not get in his second term, and the state that elected Wellstone to the Senate it made the miserable winters bearable. But, it stinks to find that Minnesota could swing to red. The Governor is looking toward Texas! as a model of how to run the state. I want my Minnesota to be solid blue again, even if future candidates forget about this corner of "fly over land".

14. It's just a short drive from IL to WI.
Come on up mand see us :)

Look at your bright side:

In the swing states we're subjected to the putrid Swiftie ads and far too many Bush ads.

18. Here in Virginia . . .
. . .even here in NORTHERN Virginia, I still see a lot more Bush than Kerry stickers. Although I still see a few Dean stickers: what's odd is a car with a Dean sticker generally doesn't have a Kerry sticker: come on guys, let's get with the program and on the team, ok ?? ;)

I just saw what I **THINK** is a new GOP sticker, it was on car with a plethora of other Repub stickers: "Flush the Johns". . . so it looks like they've already sunk to the sewers on bumperstickers, as well as ads. . .

And yeah, it sucks to be here: we know we're not in play either. . .
